Thanks DJ, what a great way to start my day! A motorcycle ride downunder while I drink me morning cappaccino! Those pics made me feel like I was there ...awesome!
Is that camera mounting hardware just a mini-tripod and a velcro strap? (hmmm...in the states we call that yankee ingenuity, what do you call it down there?
Thanks again for the ride and keep'm comin'!

Thanks Mark...yes it's just one of those cheap little folding tri pods....it's not my idea...I saw someone else here do it and thought I'd give it a try.

When I posted my last ride report, I mentioned I was going to try to mount the camera on the handlebars for some 'action' shots. This settles it! I'm going to do it! Nice shots DJ.
I still find it weird watching you guys ride on the 'wrong' side of the road!

Great pics! Looks so much like central California, without all the homes and freeways.
What's the dead animal?
Looks like you had a great ride, beautiful sweepers. Nice idea with the camera mount too. I bought a little point and shoot camera thinking I'd do the same thing on my bike, but I wasn't happy with the picture quality (it was good but I'm spoiled) so I traded it back for another lens. Certainly good enough for capturing the moment and posting here, though. Well done!

Hell of a photo set! I mounted a camera like that and tried a video but it wobbled like hell so mostly rode with one hand on the camera. Still didn't work too well...I have to try again but with a better mount.
If you're interested it's here, with sound!

How the hell do I hold onto that bucking bronco!

Thanks guys.
darcym..the dead animal is a wombat..that one's about average size at about 2' long.
Nice little vid chris...I think that mount only works for still shots..because you have to hold the camera to take the pic..that stops the shake.

DJ, got my Ixus 40 mounted, and tried it today.
Perfect pictures, no blurring.
Going on a ride tommorrow, and will do some more pics.
Thanks for the photo of your camera as an idea for a mounting.
It would be good if you could get a remote shutter control for the camera.

Good one Johno....I used a 4" piece of bicycle inner tube between the mirror stalk and the camera tripod..for better grip and scratch protection.
A remote would be good..but may result in blurry pics..having to hold the camera to press the shutter also helps stop vibration.
Post your pics so we can all see them...and I hope you don't hit a big bump and it falls off..

The only problem I have is the camera keeps turning itself off.
Works perfect otherwise.
How do you download photos???
I got one photo of 2 Kangaroos that were running up the road in front of me, and the shot had both of them on the hop at the same time.
All pictures are clear, so you maybe right about a remote.

Johno...send me your pics on djp1 (at) optusnet.com.au ...and I will try and post them for you.
I had the screen turned off...bottom button on the back I think....maybe that's why mine didn't keep turning off.
It looks like you guys had perfect weather today...and we get it tomorrow....
My Internet provider gives me a small amount of space where I can load my pictures...then they have a url number...alowing me to post them here.
