Well, I don't like keeping track of gears or looking at the tach to know what gear I'm in. :) Is there a way to adapt a gear indicator to a 2000 R1100R?

Anything is possible....the next question is: How deep are your pockets?
Stick to the tach.....you only have 5 gears.... 8) 8)

I can't see my fingers when I'm riding because they are wrapped around the grips. :) Well, it seems like there are no real options and since I haven't had the bike that long, I guess I hope to get a better feel of the bike so that I just know what gear I'm in.

I've considered an Acumen digital gear indicator previously, but didn't think it would work on my R - having looked at the pdf linked from the site below, it appears it might as they have 1150R mentioned in the literature...

Interesting to see if you could do anything with an 1100 - I don't know anything about the differences between the two generations though.

Ummmm,.......some of us are "burdened" with all of SIX gears,......not that i'm complaining. :D

I only get to use the overdrive 6th on the highway, however. Can't wait to see what kind of milage i can get on an extended touring trip using mostly that gear.

Interesting that my 1982 Suzuki GS850GL does have a gear indicator on the instrumentation,......as well as a fuel tank level guage. They are handy to have.................

Hirsty:

Thanks for the link. I was thinking the same thing...comparing the signals of the tach and speedometer. I like the idea of their product, but I don't like the relatively large LED(?) display they have. Having that kind of large display is kind like having training wheels. :)

Joe:

Yeah, my '82 Honda V45 had a top gear indicator. IMO, it's a nice thing to have. I believe I read somewhere that the R1150RT has a gear indicator, so I wonder how it's done on that bike.
