It has that agressive, muscular look (and more of it) that first drew me to the R1150R.

I hate to say it, but that is a better looking bike than the R1200R.
As Boxer said, one more for the Lotto list.

That's a sharp looking bike, but I suspect it would not ride as well as an R1200R, but then again who knows.

I test rode a Ducati S4-RS today. Its a 1000cc water cooled twin, 133HP, 410 lbs dry, ohlins USD forks & rear shock, carbon fiber bits here & there, cool "dry" Ducati clutch with character, very sharp non ABS 1 finger brakes, bright Ducati red with a white stripe, very light looking wheels, big fat rear sprt tire, & Italian flair. Standard seating position, very, very, fun to ride.

Not much wrong with this bike. $15,800. Maybe a better deal than a R1200R.

Did I mention the Ducati red?

Yeah, Rob, I think you just might be right... I'm looking forward to the 1200R, but I had a '94 Monster years ago and it was serious fun! It wouldn't surprise me if I had another one someday, the only problem for me is that there's no dealers nearby and some maintenance items on those are better left to a dealer (or a good indy shop). I gotta say the Italians have a much better sense of style, eh?

Actually its 390lbs dry.

That dealer thing makes all the difference. Pro Italia, a Ducati/MV Agusta dealer is 3 miles from my house, and they are even open on Sundays.

They are maybe in the top 2 or 3 Ducati dealers volume wise in the country. Between the Glendale Pro Italia dealer, & the one in Santa Barbara, they have 22 of those $65,000 MotoGP knockoff bikes on order.

I was told there is a 600 mile service for $300, and then the interval is 7,500 miles at "about $1,000". Not really that much different than a BMW with ABS at least.

I have never seen a MG dealer where I live.

My 18K service on my RR with ABS was $700 or so, so not quite $1K, but in the ball park. Maybe I should shop around?

OK, this has nothing really to do with the R1200R. At first I thought it would be nice to have a newer updated Roadster. After all, my R1150R, Atlanta Blue 2002 with *only* 42000 miles on it has been an excellent bike. I got it new in August of 2001 after 23 year motorcycle hiatus. I've not had any major problems with it, and for the most part, it fits me like a glove, so I guess I'll be keeping it. On the other hand... a friend of mine came over from Asheville NC on his K1200LT today. We went riding, and switched bikes. Man...that LT is one gorgeous comfy, cruisy, old farty bike. I absolutely loved it!!! I think, if I *were* to get another bike, it wouldnt be an an R1200R, it would be the LT. At 54, I'm realizing that 'creature comforts' have their place in the world, and BMW sure got it right with the LT!!!!

They are a long way off...I talked to Mr Guzzi tonight (Melb. bike show)...he's not happy the pics have been even released..btw..IMO..the Griso looks better.

I like the Griso, not ridden like you but sat on, but I really like the look of that black beaut. The other bike I fell in love with instantly was the MV Agusta Brutale. A guy was just collecting his new toy when I was last in the Italia Sport dealer and it just looked so stunning. Shame the exhaust note is a bit of a sparrow fart!

I was actually thinking of bying a Griso before I found the R1200R. More power and cheaper insurance made me pick the Beemer. But the Griso is gorgeous looking bike.

I hope the new Guzzi packs some more power than the Griso.

BTW; Griso means "pig-o" in swedish.
