Any comments/suggestions for a good all around tank bag with a map window. Day to day riding...not the 4 million liter capacity. enough to place cell phones, etc in. Also, comments about attachment systems? Magnetic vs. the remaiinig systems..........rt

I got an SW-MOTEC bag from twisted throttle.com. It's great. Fits the curves of the tank well and never touches the paint. Very good quality and comes with a rain cover.

I've got this one:



It's a GEARS bag, pretty basic...one main pocket with a rain cover and map pocket all for $44.00 (CDN)
It served me very well on the last trek of 3400kms.

The only downside, is that since the bag is magnetic, you need to make sure that you tank is always as clean as possible so you do not muck up
your paint.
Other than that it is a great, economic bag that I also use for odds and ends when bombing around the city
or shortish commutes for my lunch, cell phone, keys and the like.

I spend too much time on Ebay, and I have picked up 2 genuine BMW tank bags.
The 1st one was an R1100S bag whick I modified the rear mount to fit, then I got a R1100RT bag, which fitted the curve of the tank better, and I modified both ends of the straps to fit.
Looks like it is ment to be there.
Both bags only owe me $230, and I will sell the S bag, so total cost not much.

I love my Oxford Magnetic Humpback tank bag. Holds great at any speed (even triple digits), is easily expandable, comes with detachable carry straps and attached grab handles, the base can be left behind if you'd rather not carry it's weight, or if you'd rather carry the base it has buckles underneath so they can be folded up under the bag neatly and won't flap around. Plus it has lots of side and front pockets, organizer pockets under the flap, and of course a nice clear map pocket on top. I think the lines flow nicely with the bike, too. I've got a tankbag I bought from cyclegear that is their brand. It's actually made by eclipse luggage and re-badged "cargo". I've never seen anyone with a bigger tankbag. It's extremely well made with great zippers and a huge map window. It has massive magnets and a safety strap. check it out @ cyclegear.com

I totally agree with priapismic. I love my Oxford humpback.

Good size - small enough to use for everyday riding but expands to use on longer trips. Construction is good, includes a strap and waterproof cover (that really works well as I found out several time this season), magnets are strong - I've had no problem even at triple digits. Cost was very reasonable and if you use Newenough, you can have them give a buck from your purchase to a fund that benefits the motorcyle org of your choice (r1150r.org is the one I usually choose). Not affiliated in any way with them - just a satisfied customer over the years.

I bought the same bag and love it.
Works and looks great, high quality.
The GPS mount is cool too, a great alternative to a ram mount IMO.

Ditto. I too have that bag and it is great. Large enough to store your glasses, cell phone, wallet, small lunch...
