BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

My dealer tells me that the first few R1200Rs should arive Sept/Oct, and that they have no control over the options on those. Starting about Jan they will be able to custom order a bike with about 10 week delivery.

I was surprized that they had no GS Adventures on the floor, they have only got 3 to date, and they are a pretty major dealer. They also didn't have any K1200GTs, as they were sold as well. I'm surprised BMW hasn't gotton more GS Adventures out. I'm not placing high hopes on seeing R1200Rs in big quantities until spring.

They had lots of RTs, KSs, KRs, LTs, & GSs sitting around. They had 1 R1200S. Not a single hold over R1150R, those have sold out here. They are expecting the R1200R to be a popular model.

All new models made after August should have the new brakes . . .

It is the yellow F800S with, at the moment 4900 km, who will be replaced.
I started My BMW loveaffair when I decided to replace the VFR800vtec with one of the first R1200gs delivered in Sweden. Problem was that the deliverytime was very long and to make me and the seller happy I got a really good price to drive a R1150 Rockster 80-ed until the 12gs was delivered. My heart melted and I did almost 10000 km in 4-5 month. I really loved everything about it. What a character!!! So even if just a few months old, when I saw the picture of the black r1200r I ordered one. Didnt really like the headlamp and the mirrors at first, but that could change or the headlamp and mirrors could change! I also wonder how the black one would look with yellow damper springs and a black Telelever horisontal support and possibly a tinted speedster screen.
Any good photoshoppers here? Or bad?

I love the F800S in the twisties and "on the road" even marching at 85 miles/hr, 140 km/hr.

I think it was $9999.00 in '02 when I bought mine, it went up as the years passed but don't remember by how much. You will find a considerable difference when you get to try out the new R.

Ouch! Quite an increase! The base on my '04 (in June 2003), with heated grips and the 'overdrive' trans was $9999. The only option was ABS and whatever 'accessories' I wanted with it. Looks like I'll continue to add on the miles on the 1150R.

As I recall, an 04 purchased in mid-04 (mine), had a base sticker of about $10,500. US

According to the BMW web site, the Roadster currently lists for $10990 USD, which is $1000 more than it listed for when I bought mine new in 2004. At that time the bike came standard with heated hand grips and center stand. Don't know about the overdrive 6th gear. ABS was a ridiculous additional $2200 in 2004. According to the web site, heated grips are now a $200 option, but the ABS option has dropped to $995, making a comparably equipped ABS bike in 2006 (I'm assuming the centerstand is included--can't tell from the web site) worth $12185, compared to a total of $12190 in 2004.

How about that? DE-flation. The FED needs to immediately lower interest rates.

So, if Deano's report is correct, a 2007 ABS-with-heated-grips Roadster will cost approximately $1000 more than the 2006 bike it replaces. Considering the additional technology, evolutionary improvements, and normal inflationary increases (and considering that there has been, in effect, no price increase over the past two years), that's probably not unreasonable.

It's anyone's guess what the base price for the new Roadster will be. My dealer either doesn't know or isn't telling. But that didn't stop me from putting down a deposit on one today. Fastest black, and no ABS. Should be pretty close to list, whatever that turns out to be. I was the third person to put down a deposit on an R1200R.

My dealer said he would contact Berlin and get mine in the pipeline. Here in Austin they don't expect to see one of these bikes until at least October, and I likely won't see mine until late this year, if then. But January is a great riding month here in the Hill Country.

That $13,025 is the base price. So the 1200R is $2000 more than the 1150R, and $3k more than the 1150R in 2003 with less included. With bags and heated grips it is now around $14k. I will wait for a used one.
