Guys

My OEM Bridgestone 010's have done 7000km and need replacing. Are there any favourite choices in the chatroom? I drive round briskly but don't race or do track days. Her indoors has also discovered I can get her to Harrods in 7 minutes so now likes going on the back...everywhere!


I am thinking about Metzler Roadtec Z6's. Has anyone any experience with these ? All other thoughts/advise appreciated!

I am having fine results wit Michelin Pilot Roads, but I have never heard anything bad about the Z6's other than cost. - Lee

I love my Metzler M3s. Highly recommended.

i have michelin pilot sports on mine at the moment - seems a rather strange choice (by the previous owner) to me but they're great in the dry and heat up loads. very sticky, but not tried them out in the wet yet (as our summer has been surprisingly good)

previous bike had bt020 tyres which were good in both wet and dry conditions. when my sports wear out i'll be reverting to bt020 as i think a tyre should work all year round in this day and age.

sportec m1's, sticky as hell, you wont get it to slide, solid, strong, and probably a bit too new for me to comment on but thought you might wanna have a look, cheaper than the 014's too, brilliant tyre, anybody else tried them yet?

Pilot Sports were OE on some bikes.


I've lost count of the Diablo Stradas I've had on my bikes.

Just stuck a set of Stradas on my pony; excellent!! On the advice of the Ricemeister I have to say...

I use the Z6's best wet traction tire I've seen

I cant get more than 4000 miles out of a set of Z6s, and the traction is less than impressive as well.

Bridgestone BT020s SUCK. Slippery as hell, resulting in unexpected supermoto style slides while riding in town. Scary.

I am going to try Pilot Roads next...

I just put Metzeler 880 Marathon Radials on my R. I chose them because I will be putting on a lot of straight line miles due to the lack of curves here in the midwest

So far, only 90 miles on them, I'd say they handle great. Seem to stick to the road just like the Z6's and they have a tread pattern that reaches into the center of the tire. Kind of early for a review, still wearing of the wax.

One down side is they are more noisy, probably due to the tread pattern. The only time I heard Z6 noise was when it was leaned over.

Also put them on the V-Star - huge, HUGE! inprovement over the stock BridgeStones. It actually stays on the road in a crosswind now. (Those stock BS tires were friggin' deadly!)

I have to agree with that; the old BT010's fellt much more secure.
The sliding sometimes might look impressive, but I prefer a safe ride !

Just off to MOT station tomorrow, had my z6's on for 6000mls, and should still pass test with tread left. Great tyre for all weather riding, I will be fitting another set in due course.
