First off these pics were taken with MY real digital camera so are going to much higher quality than my recent VT pics. Also less words, more show!!

This was from my last ride of the year 2005. One of those rare, sunny crisp VT days that you know may not come again till spring so you better ride now!!! This is the side of VT those coming for the rally from far away may not get to see too often so here ya go-->

This is a local dam just up the road from me.

Image

The reservoir behind the dam. Nice little State Park here to for those into semi-primitive camping.

Image

Bike in front of the dam.

Image

I think this Bromley Ski resort.

Image

Close up of Bromley. Not bad snow for the last day of October!!

Image

Reconstructing my route from that day, I think this is Haystack

Image

Slightly disheartening going down a road with snow on the side of it. If i recall correctly there had been some good dustings a few days before and it was sticking around in the shady spots like this.

Image

I had come down through Bennington and onto Route 9 heading west towards Brattleboro. It was about 4pm at this point and the sun, which had been providing decent warmth along with my leather jacket and sweatshirt, was going down and it was getting downright cold. Notice the lack of a windshield... Pulled in at this turnout to pull the rainjacket out. Worked quite well as a windbreaker and made the rest of the trip at least tolerable.

Hang on for these next three shots!!!!

This is the overlook from Hogback Mountain on Route 9 about 5-6 miles from I-91 the other side of Brattleboro. anyone coming this way in July, this is the worth the side trip for the view and the road to get there!!!

This last one wasnt taken that same trip but you got to be jealous of the people living here that get to see this view everyday!!!

Image

And look what I get running through my backyard!! Took this through a screen window, so no need to adjust your monitors..

These are from the end of last October, the beginning of wintertime around here. Just some pics I had on my Canon G5 that I finally found my power cord and USB cable to connect it to my computer.

Winter around these parts is definitely not riding season!! My driveway is a good hill and I have to use four wheel drive to get up it in the winter. We usually get several feet of snow b/w November and March, ranging froma couple of inches to foot or more at a time. Snowmobiles commonly replace motorcycles for a lot of riders come winter. See my sarcastic comments and pics on your last great ride story DJ!!!

I feel sorry for you guys that can't ride all year round...and have to store you bike away and thaw it out again after Winter.. :D

Do you snow board or ski...that's one bonus.

Oh yeah, I've been skiing for about 20 years now. I was lucky growing up in central VT with a world class place like Killington less than an hour away. They ran a program through many of the school systems. For about the price of a one day pass you got 9 half days on Sunday afternoons with an instructor in a group of about 10 other kids. The tenth Sunday you could go all day on your own. It was great for us kids and better for the ski industry. Got us all hooked at a young an impressionable age!!!

Its a sad day at end of October or so when we get that first good storm of the year and you know thats it for the bike for months. But then a couple days later, you get those first runs in and life dont seem so bad!!
