I have both the "trip" and the "engage" and LOVE THEM!

When they are not on the bike, the mounting ring is not noticable.

Easy on, easy off.

Secure at high speeds (I just don't trust dem dar magnetic bags)

And I can switch tank bags easy as cake!

I wanted to add this to this post for future reference:

I have both the "trip" and the "engage"

The trip is tiny. I use it when I'm out cruising with some German automobile folks and I don't have my system cases on my bike. It's big enough for a wallet, cell phone, and the anonymous book, that's about it.

The Engage I use 99% of the time (along with my system cases).

I can cram alot in (Although it's not what I'd call a "large" or even "big" tank bag"

I usualy have my wallet, phone, flashlight, pager, palmpilot, Ipod in there, and there is still room to CRAM a 20oz soda in there. The openeing is a little strange compared to the over all shape of the bag.

Then engage is an abnormal shape, round at the front, tapered in the back. Looks unusual, but does a nice job staying out of the way of the handle bars, etc.

I the option map pocket and GPS holder that can easily attach to both bags (so you only need one). The map pocket is very wide, aprox 8"x8" (if memory serves me)

The mounting piece is a seperate piece, under $20. Comes with screws and fits very nicely on the gas cap. Blends right in when the bag isn't on.

When the bags come, there corresponding bracket IS NOT attached to the bag, rather, you figure out the exact placement on thebottom of the bag (forward to backward) to fit your bike best. It is also concievable that you could get this same mounting bracket and attach it to a bag or something you already own.

Disconnecting the bag is as easy as reaching under the front portion and pulling the string. The spring release bin disenganges and the bag come right off. The bags feel very sturdy, and I have no fear that they will come of while riding.

I did order from twisted throttle, I agree that their site is a little screwy but:
1: they are the only american dealer (that I've found) for the sw-motech bags and
2:they are very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. I even dropped by their place in RI one day. They aren't set up as a store front, only mail/internet orders, but they were very helpful none-the-less.

I like these bags alot because with one small bracket on the bike, They have countless tank bag options. SW-Motech has everything from the "trip" to some HUGE bag... they even make a camera/ball mount for the bracket. perfect for a camera (digital or still) or even a small tablet PC!

Magnetic bags didn't feel secure on our odly shaped tanks, and I didn't want to mess with straps and buckles to ruin the lines of my pretty bike.

Plus! The mounting system keeps the bags from touching the bike, I haven't noted any risk of damage to the paint or finish.

NOTE: Both bags had the huge fugly medal medalion on the top (some german must have thought it looket good). I quickly dispatched with them by simply riping out their stitching that held them in, and the bag looks 100x better.

Sorry, for the long post... but I LOVE these bags. I agonized for a very long time for the "perfect" tank bag... and i really think these are it!

I assume then that the Trip would be too small for commuting (lunch, extra pair of gloves?

with reference to the Engage, do you have any pics of it on your ride...LOL just saw your signature, ok. Any other photo's of it on your bike? I'm not sure if I'd like something that big, as I am only 5'7".

They show the bag the best... (the subject of the shot wasn't my tankbag)...

...the "trip" is teeny... nice if you only have a wallet, cell phone... but a lunch... that'd be pushing it.

The engage, although it looks large, really isnt (relativly speaking). I'm around 5'7" / 5'8" myself, And I can't see the bag unless I look straight down... it wont get in your way at all.

If you brown-paper-bag your lunch, and have gloves, those should fit in the engage no problem.

With the exception of the BMW F650CS, any tankbag is going to look like an after though stuck onto your tank... But the engage does trail down in the back, and flows with the lines of the tank well.

I have the day pack and is way to small...I just get my wallet , cell , small camara and small spray cleaner and and its full!,,,,I would get the next size as a day pack. or the engage model seens nice... btw you can get a camara adaptor and such to mount on the same gismo!
