Bar Risers

Post by BlackBart01 »

I've been having tennis elbow problems lately, and I suspect my riding grip is contributing to the discomfort. I am considering buying bar risers that will raise the handlebar 1" and bring it back 1-1/4" from Moto Techniques. I have a 33" sleeve length. I'd like to hear from anyone who has made the switch, especially if you have an opinion about Moto Technique's product, or if it was successful in mitigating elbow pain for you. Will the use of risers affect the steering of the Roadster? Thanks.

I installed the Moto-Tehniques bar-backs in that size. The install was easy, the price and quality is great, and the position is wonderfull. The only other option I might suggest is the Wunderlich Touring bars. They are only $120 and don't require any new cables on a Roadster. They are crome and look factory. Installation is much more of a chore, but they look a lot better than bar-backs. I may switch to these later on down the line just for aesthetics. You can find them at BMW of Santa Cruz. Either way your going to be much more comfortable. Good luck!

I have the Wunderlich Touring Wellness bars and the difference in comfort is impressive. It is not just the height and reach but the bend that affects comfort. I find the controls fall more readily at hand than the bend of the stock bars which rotate your wrists more. Although I didn't have to extend any controls, I did have to significantly relocate the brake hose and wiring bundles to prevent binding. Extending the brake hose with the Wunderlich bars, though not required, is a good idea.

Now, I still wanted a bit more relaxed arm position so I installed Verholen BarBacks on the Wunderlich bars. Now I have it like I want it, but you do have to add the longer GS front brake hose.

That's exactly what I did for my round Aus trip. Worked a treat and highly recommended. Install was a breeze with just a couple of cable ties snipped and new ones fitted. Mick.

I just installed the Moto-Techniques Bar-Risers this past weekend. I got the 1-inch rise and 5/8-inch set back since my sleeve length is a 35. I got to test them on Saturday; I took a 425 mile ride in the afternoon and really liked the position. I don't feel like I'm "reaching" for the bars anymore. As the others have said, the fit and finsih is great. The only problem I had was the longest screws they sent felt like they were bottoming out so I just used a couple of the original ones and everything was fine.

Nice product, nice price!
