Speedster screen buffeting

Hi
I used the tip on the tech tips page posted by s2pidduncan about adding rubber grommet spacers to the top mountings of my speedster screen to make it a little more upright. It only moves about 5mm nearer vertical but it has made a huge difference to the way the screen works! I could ride at 90+ all day now whereas before I was getting hammered at 80. I didn't even need longer bolts. Great tip!

You're inserting grommets under the screen? How many on each bolt? Just one? I've gotta try it.

Just one electrical grommet between the screen and the top mounts. Loosen all the bolts, take out the top two and add the grommets.

The Tech Tips shows the gromments added to the flyscreen. Is seems like adding a couple of degrees of cant to the sport shield might be also be worthwhile. Has anyone done this to the sport screen?

I have the smoked BMW sport screen -- I have added approx. 5/8" of rubber washers to the upper bolt/mounts. This reslulted in the screen moving forward and slightly upward approx. the same -- 5/8".
Being 5'9" tall, this change helps deflect the wind slightly off my face shield, making high speed buffeting a bit less bothersome.

Did you have to use longer screws for the well nuts?

No, I backed off the bottom bolts, removed the uppers and installed a nylon washer through the bolt as a spacer -- This gave me about 3/8", then I re-installed the upper bolts and left them only barely threaded -- pulled the shield forward and slipped in a 1/4'' rubber hose gasket that was split to slide in over the installed bolt (between the nylon washer and the shield).
These 2 washers equalled 5/8" of forward adjustment.
You get enough thread in the well nut to hold tight but, I went ahead and used Locktite just to be sure.
