Five days of rain

First big ride with the wife and fingers crossed for 5 glorious days of warm sunny riding.....damn forgot to talk to the gig guy, got 5 days of rain, wind and overnight snow. But not a complaint even though we had to stop a by some thermal (dry) sox on the second day. When the sun came out (2 maybe 3 hours of it) it was magic.
Yes, I have been asked to take her on another ride, perhaps mid summer.

Our trip started in Wellington, but because of the less than favourable conditions I didn't get the camera out till we got north of Auckland, so what you see is what is known as the Far North. The stone building is Kerikeri, the boatshed cafe is at the small village of Rewena, the 3 gloomy water shots are of the Hokianga harbour area.

Stig,
I have friends who have ridden in NZ and another trip for them is in the planning stages. I wish I was retired so I could join them.
Their last ride involved a lot of rain but it didn't dampen the wonderful experience of seeing the beautiful NZ scenery.

I have a set of Givi sport bags and a magnetic Givi tank bag. The saddlebags are good untill you extend them out for maximum capacity, then they tend to sag down and in toward the wheel. To counter this I've since made up a carrier rack that supports them and also carrys the tank bag now.
There is enough room in this combination of bags for two people for 5 days or so.
It's great arriving at your destination and at the flick of a bungy cord all your luggage is off the bike and in your room, and you have your naked bike again.
I give the build quality is about 8/10, after 14 month service no significant failure except the slip over rain covers ripped and became landfill.
The bad side is they are not water proof.
found out the hard way.
I always use water proof liners (plastic bin liners) just in case of heavey rain and obviously they don't lock up like the hard case option.
Bang for buck they're OK
Bottom line is I don't have NZ$2700.00 for system cases!

yeah, i hear you on the cost of the system cases. i wish my bike had them when i bought it. at least that way they would have been financed. i've still got my eyes out for a pair of used system cases but i've also looked into alternatives. i think i've looked at those givi bags as well. i guess we'll see what happens. right now i've got the 12k service to save for. take care, j
