sportster bracket and rcu light bracket on turnsignal stalk?

Hi,

I just installed the sportster windscreen and am about to mount some driving lights. I like the idea of having them up near the headlight and the RCU brackets or some home made clone of them is what I have in mind. I have used many threads and pictures here as inspiration.

My question is if the turn signal stalk is long enough to accomodate both the windscreen and the light brackets.

Anyone have any experience? How thick can the light brackets be and still leave enough thread on the stalk to attach the nut and thread it on a reliable amount?

Thanks in advance.

Bob

See the bottom of this thread.

I made mine out of what appears to be 1/8" think steel and they fit fine. My problem, which I now have to fix, is the lights bump into the oil coolers slightly when the bars are turned all the way.

I didn't use the turn signal stalk.

I think I can angle the bracket further to the front and change the swivel on the light to accomodate the angle difference.

Hi Boxer,

ahhhh - so a 1-point attachment of your fabricated bracket using the headlight bolt.

thanks - that will eliminate the concern about fitting both the windscreen and light brackets on the turn signal stalk.

sounds as if one point of attachment provides plenty of stability and maintenance of their aim down the road.

I thought I had found all of the mounting variations on the site - obviously I missed this one.

Thanks again.
