Heated gear, would you use a volt/amp meter?

As title. I’ve recently treated myself to a premium heated jacket (yet to install) and already have heated grips on several bikes but I’d feel happier if I could monitor the consumption it all uses together. Has anyone had any satisfaction from either a voltmeter or an ammeter as they both do a different job? Eric

Nope.
Just fitted the kit and used it. On my Rockster, and my K, I've used probably 3 different heated jackets, AND the heated grips (riding in snowy weather for example), and never had an issue.(most alternators generate excess voltage than is required for charging the battery and running the bike).
Just ensure that there is NO possible means of the jacket wiring drawing power whilst the bike is turned off and you'll be fine. I tend to run a relay that is triggered by a non-vital, low-power circuit - eg an instrument bulb.
