I ride a r1100rtp and I am 5'9"" and 160 lbs. I love the bike, but the stock seat has got to go! I can ride for about a half hour before the bones in my butt start aching big time. I know bmw makes a comfort seat, as does corbin and maier. I am not wanting to buy each to find out which is best for my situation. Any pointed butt people resolve which seat has the best padding for us with less natural padding? Any help is appreciated! Jeromeo

Jeromeo,
I have a Rick Mayer seat that was on the bike when I bought it. It was designed for a man that weighs about 120 pounds more than me. I am 5'7" and 140punds. The old stock seat also came with the bike and I tried them both. The stock seat absolutely is no option. I can't stand anything more than 20 minutes. The Mayer seat is Awesome, I have done several 700 mile days with it and I allways feel I could do at least 300 more a day. I c'ant say enough about the Mayer seat. I am going to have him trim it down a little on the sides to help me reach the ground a little easier. And he is going to do that for 20 bucks.
I am a big Rick Mayer fan.

For long rides I've gone cheap. Worked for me. I'm 5'7", 145 pounds:

I've looked at Corbin, Sargent and Rick Mayer seats and I think that for pure comfort, Rick Mayer may have got it licked. His seats are made "dished out" for lack of better words. They seem to hold up your entire butt.
I have a Sargent on my Aprilia and I am happy as clam. It rides nice AND not wide so that I can still hang off the bike and move around.

I've only tried the Sargent and I love it. Any of these mentioned are better than stock!
