Yesterday was a real stinker..boxerboy was up in north Victoria and he said it was 46C..that's about 115F..phew!!..here in Melbourne it wasn't much cooler.

I had the mesh airflow jacket on...bad move...the hot air was burning hot..and I was riding back up to the Reefton Pub to stay the night.

Here's a pic that I took the other day...when I got caught in a Squid sandwich.. :?

That day I got talking to the owner (an ex motorcycle shop owner) and he showed me the cabins out the back and invited me back to try them out.

After the best Pub counter meal that I've had in ages and a few icy cold drinks it was time to settle down for the night..I asked if I could bring my bike around the back rather than leave it out the front overnight..he said sure..ride around and I'll meet you out the back..he said bring it in under cover in case it rains over night..I said no don't worry but he insisted..he said keep going down the hall and park right out side your cabin..he said all the others do it...here's a pic.

Guess what happened during the night..it pissed down (very heavy rain)..and then cleared in the morning and my bike was bone dry...how cool.

Each cabin has a open porch that overlooks this bubbling brook..we call them creeks..and I woke this morning to the sound of Kookaburras,Rosella's and Bell birds.

So if any of you guys are ever in town...check it out.. http://www.reeftonpub.com/ ... http://www.imagesaustralia.com/reefton.htm

here's two more pics...my bike..the little cabins..$45 a night a double (about $30 US)..or about $28 a single ($20 US)...with breakie...how cheap is that.. :smt023

I wish!

Looks like a nice place. Cabins can be a nice change from camping. The cabins at Tapaco Lodge for the Beakster Bash I were like that, right next to the creek! Good sleeping! Of course, the beer might have helped the sleeping also.

thanks for the story and the shots DJ . I can remember a couple of
overnight runs like that, where I have had the opportunity to park close to the door
Late in the evening sitting beside the machine having a cold drink watching the rain pour down.
Very relaxing and exciting . anticipating the next days ride.

Are the bugs bad there? Is it really humid or a dry heat ? I know where we are , spring to summer
mosquitos can be nasty , around here especially near evergreens and dense bush.

Yeah, that's what we call them too; brook, creek (pronounced "crick" some places) or stream, they all work. $30 bucks/night, very nice! 114 degrees is not so nice.
