looking for comprehensive manual for '04 r1150r w/abs; clymer, haynes, or other? your recommendation. thanks.

Don't have one yet to recommend or not, but I know Clymer makes one - their PN M-503-2 which is a newer version to cover the 04 r1150r. Should retail at around $40. I also think BMW has a CD you can purchase - I think they offer 12 month financing on it.

Haynes' came out last year, was about $25 and was pretty good....though I don't get into wrenching beyond basic to intermediate level disassembly of the bike.

When i purchased my Bandit 600 in 97 .
I got a full shop manual for it from Suzuki
and did all my own repairs!

Now with R1150R i've become to dependent
on the dealer to do my dirty work for me !
This can be quite costly .
Doing your own maintenence is easy to once you have done it a few times !

The BMW R1150R Manual on CD is also regularly for sale on ebay at much less than the regular list price. You should pick one up for less than $20.

thanks for your help. i found the clymer for<$25. i've seen the cd on ebay, but most only go up to '02. i don't know if there are differences beyond twinspark.

ive a original bmw cd thats goes up to 2004 abs servo if you want it £20 incl p+p to uk only though.

thanks r1150r-ophiles. no need for further recommendations, since i sprung for the clymer manual.

i don't expect to use it for repairs, since still warranteed for 2+ years. hopefully, it'll contain routine maintenance items like oil changes, torque specs, etc. we'll see...mj

If you're interested go out to the link below and download the Oilhead Service Manual PDF. I've found that this is a great companion to the BMW shop manual for my 02. Don't know if anyone else has printed this out or uses it. At worst, it's another reference tool.
