List of other brand name components to use on the R bikes

Post by boxermania »

Awhile back someone had compiled a list of diferent filters, plugs, etc for our bikes. I thought I had saved the list, unfortunately I don't seem to be able to locate it.

Can someone repost?

Thanks,

Al

Great, great info. Thanks for putting it together and thanks for sharing, for those of us that were not frogging around the board then.

Equipment List...

Post by dallara »

Hi, Guys...

That was the list I put together a long time ago and posted here.

Of course a couple of the moderators think that my
posts are not what many consider valuable
, ya' know...

Hope it helps you folks out.

Cheers!

"airbox lid trick"

Post by r1150rider »

It's been so long since I did this, but I remember modifying the "tabs" that go in the "slots" that form the "hinge" on the airbox lid. I think I filed off a little bit of the "tabs", which makes it possible to remove/reinstall the lid without having to remove the fuel tank. Sorry to be so vague, but if you take the tank off and eyeball the lid, it's pretty easy to figure out. I think it's a matter of being able to engage the tabs at a shallower angle, I sorta recall that it only required removal of about 1/8" off the end of the tabs.

D...the NGK Iridium plugs on that list have a factory gap of 1.1mm...thus the '-11' at the end of the plug number.
OE says .8mm or .031" or .032".
Any benefit to opening up the gap that much??? :?:
