It was a perfect week down under for the Aussie round of the Moto Gp.



I was very lucky this year to join Marko in a corporate box/marque at the best location at the track to be watching the action...
we had membership to the 'High Octane Cub'..



Just when I was thinking that I will not know anyone here a fellow R1150R board member comes up to me and says..hey..are you DJ..as in Downunder?..
geees!..an interstate RR rider from Sydney..what a hoot!..he recognized me from my pictures on this site.



We were all at turn 10 as the riders drop down into MG corner it's a bit like the Laguna corkscrew watching them come over the hill and drop into the slowest corner..it's where most overtaking is done..and riders often crash.









Just showing off a little with those few pics...we had great food.(all we could eat)..great drinks (all we could drink)..big screen TV's everywhere and you could even watch the action from inside..we were that close.

Gees!..they even served up my favorite desert...can anyone guess?

We were bangin' shoulders with the rich and famous...anyone know who this guy is...(he was my hero.. )



We had access to the pits where we had more shoulder banging...opps..sorry Collin..



There were some great bikes in the pits...we could go in and watch them changing wheels and shox etc...nice paint on this green one.

In the bike expo there was another nice blue pair..



Back outside there were freaky Rossi fans everywhere.



Here I am one of the many bike parking areas...now where is it..



Here we are back at marko's place..almost dark..it's a great little house in the bush just down the road from the Puffing Billy...nice.



We survived the ride back with all the other loonies.

Great result for the Americans..for those who've not seen it yet.

I personally want to thank you because even thought I make the point to attend at least two motorbike races each year it isn't quite the same as a Moto GP outing.

Bonfires are banned..fire works are banned..marko's been busy doing his front yard and retaining wall...that's going to be a few loads to the tip to get rid of it...also the chance of a bushfire is too great with open fires of any kind.

I remember bonfires and what we called cracker night...(a bit like your 4th of July)...those were the good old days.

Infection gone, operating on 2 lungs again, and shoulder feeling better.

Roadster is back home! all repaired, and I will be getting my Gerbing out soon. I got 2 new system cases in the deal, and my old ones are still in good shape.

I doubt I will be waiting till spring to get back on the horse. Of course, my kid plays AAA ice hockey, so long bike trips are out till April, except the cager trips. Driving to Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Canada in the next 2 1/2 months to watch 12 year olds play a game, nuts.

So...were the babes drooling over the two Beemer Geezers ?

Man, I wish I was there.

So now it begins. The thrill lasts a while, really it does. But sooner or later, the cravings begin...Got to see another MotoGP...And the tube doesn't quite cut it...Got to see another MotoGP...Even the MotoCourse books at sixty or so a pop don't do it justice...Got to see another MotoGP...

We'll all end up in Turkey if we're not careful.

While the sound and atmosphere is great...I think you see it better on TV..the coverage is so good these days..you see every move and wrong line and little errors..live you miss alot of that..
There's nothing worse that when they go out of view and you hear the crowd in the distance go oooh!..and all you see is a bit of dust fly..and you miss a good bit.

I'm looking forward to seeing Turkey..on the telly.. ...I can't wait.

I guess we were luck at Laguna. Our grandstand was across from a JumboTron screen so we could indulge the TV and the live race all at once. They even had the commentary on the radio, so you could hear it all too. A bit of overkill, perhaps. Or absolute total immersion. Either way, I really loved the atmosphere. Loud bikes, they are. I can't think of anything that will raise the hairs on the back of my neck like that sound.

On to Turkey!

If I knew everything about food I'd be retired with a stable full of bikes...and babes!
Oz is one of the few places I haven't visited in my travels..although it's near the top of the list.
