Anybody else get this?
I consider my R as my primary mode of transporation and it gets used every day...even if I need to go down 300 yards to the supermarket.
With that being said, I feel very very comfortable on my R and when I do switch to my car, it feels "different"...almost alien and I notice that I'm more careful driving the cage as though I don't trust the car as much I trust the bike and my ability thereof. It's a pretty freaky sensation.
Perhaps I'm going a little batty....just wanted to throw this out and see if anyone has similar experiences.

this is just my first year on the bike, but i also have ridden it everyday (i thought my car battery might go dead!). i had to take the car into work today and it did feel insulated....something odd, not as much sensory input, of course.

Bang on!
I have been riding my R all summer. Cage is for passengers exceeding 1, and grocery runs.
The car feels odd, and I feel far less aware of my immediate surroundings (thinking.....man! this whole car is one large blind spot!)
The season is coming to an end here in Toronto. Time to re-aquaint myself with the 4-wheeled red thing collecting dust and bird droppings in my driveway!

Yes, I can relate to that.
I switch from car to scooter to BMW R all week, drive the scooter in town, the car if it's wet and the bike at weekends or on my afternoon off.
My driving's improved hugely since I started biking. I ride the Vespa like a lunatic, but that's the Italian influence oozing from it. The bike's what I like best of all.
I think that in a car, like Dano says, you just don't have the sensory input.
But I bet you anything you're a better car driver than most non-bikers driving cars.

Absolutely.
Getting my motorcycle license (and putting more kms/yr on it than my car), has fine tuned my cage habits and got rid of many bad/lazy habits that develop over the years.

Cage syndrome.
Yes, the cage feels funny and it takes some time to get used to it after riding the bike all week and my wifes car is even stranger. A lot of my problem with the car is the inability to see well. It feels like you are turning your head "inside" your helmet!
I bought the bike to have fun with on week ends. Than the fuel prices went crazy than crazier, ben commuting to work all summer unless it rains. Looks like it will be all winter too. The cage dose seem odd now. Love the bike.
