I'm receiving the plastic headguards for the bike soon. Do I need to remove the heads for installation?
TIA...Vinny

No you don't. It's an easy install.

Although I just picked my headguards up today and haven't had time to install them yet, I did have a chance to look at the instruction booklet for a minute. You don't have to remove the heads and it appears to be a very easy installation!

It will take you 10 minutes to install both. 15 minutes tops.

15 minute install time. 14 minutes for the first side and one minute for the second side.

I am not too impressed with those plastic head guards. I bought a pair with my Rockster almost two years ago - uninstalled. Dropped my bike in the driveway that same day before I installed them (different story

). They were easy to install but they kind of reminded me of training wheels - not that I didn't need them. In a subsequent slow-motion drop (when taking the bike of the center stand) the weight of the bike broke the right head guard and still scuffed the valve cover - which I come to find out is cheaper to replace then the pair of guards.

Very easy install. Three bolts for each one. The short bolt goes on the front of the head (I think) and the two longer ones underneath and behind.
You have to push the guard tight on the head to line the holes up and get the last bolt in as the rubber grommets inside the head protector can push it out of alignment a little.

Yup....it's an easy install.
I have these and they will tear off in the event of a moving fall (proven last year on a mild low-sider!).
Where they do come in handy is if/when you forget to put the side stand dowm after getting off the bike. Inexpensive protection for the heads in a
" ok, I'm letting you down now cause you weigh more than me " scenario!.

my guards were not as easy as others have found. One of the bolt holes did not match up well to the cylinder and it required some tough maneuvering to get it in place.
I am, however, in the minority when it comes to this. most have no problem.
