Motolights: New Caliper Mounts

Post by Valueman »

At our last club meeting I was looking at a twin to my 1150R and noticed that the Motolights had a very different mounting system. I love my Motolights, but have never been a big fan of the strap-style mounts.

Today, after giving her a bath to finally wash off the grime from an 1,100 mile weekend last week, I changed the mounts out. I like these new caliper mounts much better. The put the lights closer to the forks, and they just look cleaner. Also, I don't think they will be as prone to movement as those straps were.

Nice new type mounts....I like them better without the band around the fork legs...do they vibrate at all.

I wonder if having them lower than the headlight would make them work better in the fog...and maybe be able to turn the headlight off... :?:

Thanks for the pics...a full side on shot would be nice.

Valueman,

I too, have the motolights and like you have never been very fond of the strap mounts.
I like what you've done, but where did you get your new mounts?
Thanks,
Tom

I got mine from the BMW dealer here in Nashville, TN. You can order them straight from Motolight. Cost is $80.

DJ,

Here are two more pics, including the side view you requested.

I suspect the lower position will make them better in the fog, but Motolights are more about being seen than seeing.

By the way, I did get down to Australia back in May, but because of a quirk in my schedule, I was only able to stay for three days. It was all work, no play. We were in Sydney, and one day I snuck out and took the harbor tour at lunch, but otherwise it work, work, work.

Take care
