Picked this up yesterday - the new Dark White R1200R, her name is Blanche.

With the new Kriega 10L "tank bag" - notice this is ALL blacked out, final drive, wheels, everything. Also has the special sport seat (and man does it feel GOOD!). Taken from the iPhone.

Hi Bob,

Congrats!

I think the R12R is quite handsome and striking in white. With the blacked out mechanicals - it looks even better.

What is the special sport seat? The one in the photo looks an awful lot like the original low seat..

BTW - I envy you the black rims.. be so much easier than cleaning brake dust up all the time.. :)

Don,

Thank you! When you order the Dark White, you actually cannot order a "low seat" (which was on the one I sold) ... so far, so good. Yup, am looking forward to NOT cleaning the wheels regularly. BTW, its night/day from the '07 - one word: BUTTER! It also feels like the gearing is slightly different, as I can maintain 80 in 5th gear @ 4500 RPMs. I will have a few more things to say after this weekend ... just needing to put miles on it to get the 600 out of the way.

"Maintain 80 in 5th gear"?....... You ever go fast enough to use 6th gear? :)

I see you got the SW Motech crash bars, before the accident. Smart man! Smarter than me...

Dbrick, his pix of the bike with SW Motech bars are excellent, and will do just as well as pix of mine.

Bill, Thank you. After seeing your pics of a white R12, thought that was the cleanest look and have wanted a white one for a long time. Just filled up the tank for the first time and believe it or not, the empty fuel indicator actually works <vbg>. Am liking the Kriega bags - simple, versatile and keeps it looking clean.

Keep enjoying your 16

Had SW Motech crash bars on the previous ride - INVALUABLE!! Because this has the sport seat and have been used to riding a low seat, thought this to be prudent BEFORE I rode it home. Had them installed at the dealer. Still need to get the plugs for heated gear, but not worried in the near term.

Thanks, Mike. They are clean for sure.
Still, I continue to dither.

angellr: that is one sweet-looking machine. I really like the color.

David, thank you! I had them on the previous '07 ... and it saved a few driveway tip overs.

Here in the UK BMW are running a promotion, with a package thrown in, on 1200R's including the Dark White.
Pannier rails & rear rack, plus panniers, the BMW high screen, plus BMW Navigator V & mounts. Priced at £1,500 which I think is about USD 2,500.
I'm pleased with that, & am counting down the days !

Thanks Patch. Just went on a 150mile early AM ride ... gotta say, completely different from the '07.

Sorry, you've got the wrong Blanche. Mine is "Blanche Dorothea Jones Calloway" named after Cab's sister.
