Hi all
Going to rid my 1200r of the boat anchor exhaust, please what have you used for this twin cam model.
Must be something cheaper than a akroprovic.
Last 1200r 2009 bike I used a lazer hotcam.
This model seems more limited.
Not bothered about gaining hp just a little lighter and more noise.

The sc project , can it be run with the baffles out without having to adjust fuelling.?
They look good.price is very good compared to a lot out on the market.

I have a SC Project and am very happy with it You won't need to adjust the efi unless you go to a full header system.

The baffle on mine came out very easily. Actually I have never heard the exhaust with it in.

Anyone here disconnect the exhaust flap or remove.
What difference does it make ?

The exhaust flap is to give better mid-range power. Since it is open a full power, removing it will probably do nothing but reduce mid-range. A different muffler might save a couple pounds.

One of the mags tried the $1500 Akroprovic pipe and header on the K1600. It made 2 HP more at full throttle, but was lost a lot of mid-range power without the flap. All you got for that money as a couple less pounds, and more noise.

I removed exhaust flap a year ago.I did not realised any torque/power differences at any rpm range.K-1600 could be a completely different story.It is not comparable to r12r.BMW did some "mistakes"in the past -experimenting-.But very soon they corrected those experiments.That flap could be only a costumer catcher,like our bikes are so quet,that no other on the road and very seldomly other bikes have exhaust flap.These competitor run/or competition really makes me sik.Hexhead works great without ex.flap, so why camhead wouldent do the same??From engineering sight there is no any reason to have that flap on the bike.Only to show our bike has more than that"Yamasukihonda".At the end,who is going to pay for those fancy thinks and experiments???Gues please.My R12R feels really good vithouth that flap,no complains.Flap feels god as well in the lower drower of my toolbox.

Was going for a imported pipe but once the duty is added and other fees it would of been not much cheaper.
Akroprovic in end and got a good deal.
Baffle out straight away.
No difference in power but sounds nice.
Not over loud either.

I also removed the exhaust flap on the recommendation of the dealer tech. Probably after 2 months of buying new. Definitely no lost power or torque anywhere, maybe more low end power. Can't think of any engine that would be stronger with a stuffed up exhaust. Please correct me if I'm wrong. It is a noise emission item.
