BMW states in the owners manual to "choose curvy, slightly hilly sections of road if possible" during break in.

Incidentally, it's likely the camera angle, but in your first pic, the NineT looks significantly smaller than the R1200R next to it.

It's not the camera angle, it is smaller or at least shorter. You sit ON the ninet instead of IN the R1200R in many ways as others have said.
The lower/flatter tank and flat seat with tiny tail make it smaller looking. When throwing it side to side in the curves it feels smaller and lighter even though it's the same weight basically.

OK, so I'm back.....

After almost five years with the K1200GT as a daily driver I picked up my R nineT on Friday afternoon from Cross Country BMW in Metuchen NJ.
I had put a deposit on one on November and got the call last week that it had come in. Maire from Cross Country took good care of me. I took my first real ride today

I had forgotten how much fun a roadster could be. Very different from the GT of course; riding the nineT feels like you're strapped to a skateboard. The handling is terrific thanks to the RR front end.

The rear seat hump will be installed next week. Other mods may include flat bars, hyper lites, and maybe an underseat exhaust.

That's quite a smile you have there, careful, with this ninet it might become permanent.
Have fun breaking it in.

I didnt notice that...interesting. wonder if its more adept at wheelies? Still haven't seen one in person...sorta glad, pretty sure ill become obsessed once i do

I think the 9t is BMW's prettiest machine thus far.

I sat on one at my dealer the other day (and saw it in nature the first time too) and now I get it.

And yes atractaspis, you can ride it anytime. If you drop it though I might have to kill you.

On gravel the ninet feels good, pretty much the same if not a little lower center of gravity.
The problem is, since I was regularly dual sporting my R, with all the miles I have on real dual sport bikes (my husaberg) has helped me grow as a rider tremendously.
Now hauling ass on street bikes sliding round corners on dirt is second nature so it's hard to compare the two bikes.
