Hello All,

I just signed up after lurking for a bit. I am currently BMWless after selling my 1150GS last May which I had put 80,000 miles on. I have also owned a couple of Airheads so I am pretty familiar with the BMW world and am a MOA member, ADVrider etc.

Anyway, this is the first time in 15years that I have not owned a BMW. I thought my Triumph Bonneville T100 and Vespa GTS250 Super would be enough. But as you might guess, it wasn't so I have been searching for a Camhead R1200R. I have spied a few, but the right deal hasn't materialized yet, but it will. When it does, I will become a full fledge paying member of this site.

In the mean time, if there is any advice on which year Camhead or issues I should look out for etc, to help me in my search, I would appreciate it. An of course if you know of a nice one for sale somewhere, let me know.

BTW I am in Euclid, OH.

Welcome to the board! There are a few bikes in the for sale section, however, you need to become a member to access these. Happy to help answer any all questions. See this thread here if you would like to join viewtopic.php?f=20&t=25162 Thanks.

Rick:
Welcome to the group. I live in Northfield, Ohio and work in Willoughby. My parents live in Euclid. The weather in our area is not very good for riding at the moment but we are another day closer to spring. If you want to get together sometime we can discuss the R1200R. I have a 2008. Send me a PM and we can go from there.
Also Search Tempest is a very good way to search adds in Craig's List. That is how I found my R1200R in North Carolina.

Small world. Yes we definitely should get together sometime to discuss our R passion. If you also happen to be a skier, we should get some turns in as well. I am going Saturday to Holiday Valley.

Found my R1200R. A beautiful 2011 Candy Apple Red Roadster with only 1300 miles. It is equipped with ABS, ASC, Heated Grips, On Board Computer, Sport Screen, System Cases, Luggage Rack & Top Case, BMW Nav IV and mount.

It is being shipped to me from Adventure BMW in VA (great to work with BTW) and I should have it in a week or two. I will be certain to post pics when it arrives.

I guess I will be hanging around now.

I still don't have my bike, but here is a pic from the dealers website before the bags and GPS were added.

Can't wait till it gets here. Then I won't be able to wait till spring gets here so I can ride it.

Rick G:

I am curious to know your opinion of the differences between your old R1150R and your new R1200R (once you get it). Please post your observations -- I am thinking about getting an R1200R. Congrats on your new purchase!

My bike is scheduled for delivery tomorrow on New Years Day. What a great way to start off the New Year! However it will be a several months till Spring before I will be able to ride and give my observations.

Happy New Years to All!
