My tank decal is looking shabby. Any suggestions as to where to get a replacement or an alternative?

You could remove it entirely - blammo! - instant 2010 conversion.

Not cheap for a sticker, I'd be inclined to just remove them.

Or you could go to a craft store and pick up a paint pen. Looks like the glue residue will make a perfect stencil.

You could contact a local company that makes signs. Many of these companies have machines that cut out stick on letters for signs. You could choose a color and a font and they could cut you new decals. They make similar items for boat names and lettering for sides of company trucks. It might not be identical to the factory decal but it would be much less expensive.

Yes, I think I might just peel them off.

If I knew the font they used I might be tempted with the local sign maker idea.

Use a different font - or make your bike different and really confuse people.

See if they can digitize the font from a photo of the sticker, I think that is a doable process.

Geez, I never noticed before that some R-bikes have decals. Wasn't paying attention, I guess. Makes me appreciate my pin-striped '07 black beauty all the more, now that I know not all her litter mates sport those lovely painted model designations.

I wonder how many other years/color schemes ended up with decal nametags?

I can attest to her skills. She made a personalized vinyl nameplate for my 12 that looks most professional. Recommend her highly.

Oops. Upon closer inspection, turns out the R1200R on my tank does seem to be some sort of applied material, with a heavy gloss coat over it. The pinstripes, however, are actually painted on.

Wow!? What happened to your decals? I've had mine since December of 06 and they look fine. Most of my riding is done out in the elements too.
I'd think about a skull decal or a flame. Or one that says CELTICUS.

Mine was painted on by BMW with a little something extra that I requested.
A good fellow in Italy contacted me wanting my permission to do his that way so, there's one somewhere in Italy as well.
I recommend a new paint job.

And the pinstripes are actually hand painted (saw that in some blurb from BMW..) Dunno if the tradition of the lady painting them putting her initials under the tank was continued though (haven't really looked for it..)
