Speedo floating at 90-110mph
Anyone seen this on their R..When you get the bike up in the range of 90+ mph the needle on the speedo starts to bob around ...Is this just a cable issue or do I potentially have something worse going on with the instrument panel? Anyone else have this behavior..Note its only happened at high speed..otherwise normal intown riding its fine..

the "ludicrous speed" effect....
about 115, the R speedo "goes to plaid"
LOL
no, mine does not do that... (not that I ever ride that fast wink-wink)

I noticed that previous owner taped the cable to the antifreeze line..I wonder if its getting to hot and lazy to keep track ...
Seriously though..Talked to a Master Tech and he stated it was probably some resistence in the cable (gunk or just age) ..New cable is about 30 bucks but didnt want to waste the money if there is something more likely going on...(Read: Bike is not intended to operate at these speeds )

Yep sounds like a speedo cable issue to me too.
I seldom go that fast on my MC, it's not all that fun going that fast. The wind blast at 90+ is brutal, and can you imagine the big fat ticket you'd get if a cop caught you? And, imagine a blowout at that speed. They'd be scraping you off the pavement.

I think a ticket at that speed will qualify you for a chauffeured ride in a nicely appointed 4 door powerful cruiser. The bike will get a lift as well on a flatbed tow-truck!

Ok Ok..Point taken...Doesnt mean I wont meander here and there but true i need to slow down..Long interstate rides grind after a couple of hours..The speed got the blood pumping..But alas i dont want to end up like one of those large bugs on my screen , suffice to say it would be a mess for a lot of folks..Thanks for the advice
