The stitching on my Marsee summer gloves is unraveling. I've already, thanks to my wife, given them a once over under the sewing maching. But I'm ready to replace them as it seems to be a hopeless cause. Its okay, as they've lasted a good two full summers of sweat. I tried on a pair of the BMW Air Flow 2 gloves at the dealership, like them, but thought I'd ask if anybody here had experience with them.

Any opinions on summer gloves generally are welcome. I wear summer gloves about eight to nine months out of the year as the Dallas area is pretty hot, so a pair that I like is important. Ventilation is important. Some protection would be nice. I'd like them to be long lasting.

Motophoria "Ion Extreme Sport Glove" - I've worn them since last July. They flow a lot of air and seem very sturdy

I bought a pair of Icon Tarmac Gloves a month ago. Love 'em. Comfortable, cool when it's hot, with lots of protective features. Nice price, too.

I bought a pair of IXS gloves in Warsaw about 5 years ago. Unlined, carbon fibre knuckles. Not that expensive.

I also have some Belstaff winter gloves. Again, carbon fibre kuckles, etc Again, not that expensive.

I also have a load of other gloves, including Boxer Cup and Atlantis ones from BMW. These lie mostly unused as I alternate the IXS and Belstaff ones according to the seasons.

Such is life. You can search for the perfect gloves but the best are probably the average ones you bought casually, on spec.

I have 3 sets of BMW gloves which I use as needed. I think thay are all the best gloves I've had. The winter ones are the warmest ever. The wet summer ones are brill for UK summers when you never know if it might rain. They are like winter gloves without the padding. The summer ones, sorry I don't know the name, are well made, comftable and don't look like over the top race gloves.

Rev-IT makes a summer glove that I've been wearing for about two months. They are very comfortable, appear to offer good protection, and only cost $60USD at my local BMW dealer.

I"m currently using the BMW "GS" gloves which are great - not much protection but then they are off-roading gloves. £35 (I think)

I also have the BMW "Comfort" gloves for rainy days and they're also very good - waterproof and enough warmth for Spring/Autumn as well - around £35 as well.

I also have the Revit summer gloves (Hurricane). I don't think the ventilation moves enough air for Dallas. I'm also concerned about the durability. They're only 6 months old or so, but I literally wear them everyday. The Lorica palms are peeling, and I'm thinking "there goes the reinforced palms!" A long-term review I read on-line also mentioned the non-slip material in the grip wears off. I'm not so sure I would buy these gloves again.

I have a pair of Thurlow perforated deer skin gloves (http://www.thurlowleather. com). I think they are style #511. They are located her in sunny San Diego. I walked in three years ago, the lady took measurements of my hands, went into the back and thirty minutes later I had a pair of custom deer skin gloves. Their nothing racy or fancy...no carbon fiber, but deer skin breathes better than cow hide and is more abrasion resistent...and they fit like a , well, a glove! If O.J. had a pair of Thurlows, he'd still be in jail.
I also have a pair of Held "Steve" gloves and a pair of insulated Held gloves for cooler and colder weather. The Held gloves are very well made, not cheap, but I have 5 years with the "Steve" model and it looks like new.

I use Mechanix brand Impact gloves for hot weather riding. Padded palm, nylon/poly/breathable backing. Cheap yet worthy.

It is a risk trade-off.

Hey DJ, those gloves you're wearing in the "Angel Poo" thread, i know their not warm weather gloves what brand are they? Do you like them? Our summer is wraping up here and i need a good pair of intermediate gloves, they look like a pair of Alpinestars i've been eyeball'n.

I agree with Chef--Thurlow gloves are great.
When I was visiting family in San Diego I went to the "factory" and had them custom make some for me.
Be careful they have lots of merchandise on display. That is not good for your bank account.

I second the rec for the Rev'it gloves--Hurricane. They seem to be well made and flow air well here in hot and humid New Orleans. From the web site I recall them $49. They tend to run a little on the small size.

Cool in the Summer heat, warm in the Winter chill, and second to none in gripability and traction when they are wet...

And best of all, they fit better than any glove I have ever owned (and there have been literally hundreds in 35 years of riding).
