'04, Runs, stalls out around 3-4k rpm

So I'm new to the board as well as my Rockster, and I'm having this issue already!

If I can get any engine speed at all, usually in the range of 3000-4000rpm, it jerks it's way up the block and eventually dies. Starting and idling seem normal, except for a mild clicking/pinging that's only coming from the left cylinder that usually goes away.

-Replaced all 4 plugs
-Checked coils, they're good
-Replaced all the old gas in the tank
-Mesh filter on the fuel pump is good
-Changed the in-line fuel filter
-Fuel lines and breather lines appear to be clear

It's so damn nice out and all I want to do is ride, but I'm stuck! Any ideas?

Check the throttle cables where they attach to the throttle bodies. Make sure that the end of the cable housing is seated into the adjuster. If it is not seated properly it will act like it is running on only one cylinder.

Good luck,

Charlie

Thanks, no luck , but I guess that's one more thing I can check off the list.

How do you know your coils are good? How did you test them?
I'm not questioning your knowledge or ability, it's just that these stick coils can be problematic.

so here's everything I know how to do to check:

-Rubber insulation on the coils looks good, usually when they fail (so I hear) they spark against the cylinder and melt the rest of the insulation.
-hooking up an extra spark plug, and leaving the ones in the cylinder (which are brand new) alone, I sparked each of the 4 plugs against the cylinder, and they all spark. And shock me if I'm not careful.
-Visually inspected all the leads going into the coils, nothing frayed or disconnected

any other thoughts or is this good?

Problem solved! Missed it the first time, the hose between the fuel pump and in-line filter ruptured, so fuel was just pumping back into the tank.

That's good news, glad you found the issue. I wonder if a PO didn't use the right fuel hose, in other words high quality, high pressure hose for fuel injection systems.

Great!

My next guess would have been checking the antifreeze.
