BMW R1200R R1150R/T F800 K1200R R1100R/T R1250R RnineT Message Board

Hi everybody. I've been reading the forum for some time now but felt it was time to say hello. I picked up a 2002 R1150R about 6 months ago and LOVE it. I've already put about 3,000 miles on it, riding every weekend. The only problem I've had was that at about 2 months of owning it I had to put it tail up. Yep, input shaft splines went out. Thankfully, you all have provided some great info and pictures on the repair process. I'll definately keep checking that they are lubed up properly.

Anyhow, I really enjoy the board and just wanted to introduce myself. If there are any other Louisiana riders here, feel free to chime in!

just wondering, how many miles did you have on it when the splines went out?

It had around 27,000 miles when it went out. I'm sure that the previous owner had never lubed the splines but after that repair, I'll definately keep it on the maintenance list. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
