Wunderlich Trophy Review & New Seat!!

Well had my first chance to go for an extended ride with the new Trophy fairing and I have to say, for me, it is just about perfect:clap

There is no wind blast on my chest and no buffeting around my helmet. I have the regular wind noise from doing 75MPH but not rough air.

I prefer to stay off the interstate but I had to make a ferry early in the AM near Seattle so I had no choice. On secondary roads from 45-60MPH is a DREAM with the fairing. I could not be happier!!

The reason for my trip to Kingston was to have a seat made at Rich's Custom Seats. I had read reviews online and for the most part they were positive with a few negatives and I felt better doing a ride in appointment instead of a mail order seat.

The seat was $$$ but man it was sooo worth it. Workmanship is top-notch and Rich is an easy guy to work with. Upgraded seat cover to leather which increased cost but well worth it. Would highly recommend Rich to anyone looking for a more comfortable seat.

Total for my seat was $700 + tax
Mind you I had leather which is extra, and a gel pad insert for passenger which is extra.

If you went in for just a custom fitting for 1 and recovered in new vinyl it would be $450, which is very close to other aftermarket seat options.

Cheers,
Dan

Did the custom seat raise the height? I know sometimes the extra width can make it so your feet are a little further off the ground. Right now I can flat floot my R1200R at the traffic lights and I didn't like the BMW comfort seat because it was too high. I decided not to do a Russell Day Long for that reason too.

Nice looking bike and seat.

My buddy and I rode up from Santa Cruz to Rich's so he could have a seat made for his R. Sure enough, seeing that operation I had to also have one for my S. Now I need one for the R I picked up.

Here are our two bikes with Rich.

BTW, I love his seats.

Looks very nice. I really like the seat!

Looks like your pic is from the Jericho Beach area? My wife and I lived in Vancouver for about 25 years, a number of which were in the Kits area. That's definitively one beach I miss.

Spanish Banks to be exact. Beautiful area, one of my favorites as well.
