Headlight Insert Damage/Protector

Have an "07" R1200R with a scratched/damaged headlight cover. Taking the screw out of the bottom I see the damage is to the "headlight insert" and runs $150-$200. Guess you have to replace the whole thing, insert. Wow, thats costly. Does anyone have any ideas how to protect the "headlight insert" from damage in the future? After market items or OEM? Can't seem to find anything. Thanks.

This
one or the Aeroflow.
Coupon code "PROMO15" will knock 15 percent off from BMW Countryside. Free shipping on >$150 orders, and unfortunately that new headlight insert qualifies.

Yup. I use the CB unit linked above, after replacing my insert at just a few thousand miles. No problems since, although that headlight cover isn't particularly attractive. I've thought about trying a thick film instead, but if the test fails it's a another expensive lesson.

thanks all for the suggestions. Rode to Montebello, CA to the Cee Bailey mgf. plant last week and picked up the headlight protector. Got home, replaced the damaged headlight insert and slapped on the protector. Looks kinda industrial but it works. Thanks All.

Can anyone post a pic of the CB headlight protector mounted on an R12R?
Thanks!

Hi, Chuck,
Sorry this took so long, but I was out on a ride.
This one is the Cee Bailey's $25 job.
It has about 7k miles on it, including through many construction zones. Cleaned it up yesterday.
For me, unequivocal rec.

Thanks, Doc. Think I'll be ordering one.

Just ordered a new insert to replace mine- cracked on my last little trip to Gettysberg. I don't mind the look of the cb protector but wonder if it will fit with the Wunderlich Trophy fairing. Anyone have both?
