another abs flashing brake failure

Post by dechaoz05 »

After parking front wheel on grass earlier today, my brake failure light started flashing. Definitely 4hz. this is a 02 r1150r abs

Did some google searches. Then I removed, inspected and reinserted all the relays and fuses just to make sure there's no electrical issue, plus that's as much as I can do in work parking lot anyways.

the sensors are properly installed and the sensor cables are not touching other moving parts.

now the braking power is extremely week and the servo doesn't make the noise anymore

i apologize if this question has showed up elsewhere already but what else can I check other than changing brake fluid and spending $$$ to the dealer

thx in advance

similar thing happened to me after i dropped my bike. i went to a bmw mechanic - not a dealer - who was able to reset the abs somehow. he charged me very little, and it took a very short time.

what worries me is what if that happens on a long trip, far from any dealers, etc.

Did you check the condition of your battery? That can cause the light to come on.

No, mine is a 2002 R1150R. i don't know what the mechanic did, but he was able to fix the issue within 30 minutes.

Interesting thread.

My 2003 RR started doing the flashing routine a couple of weeks ago. What mine does is different; I get the usual slow flash on startup. It goes out as I roll away. If I brake easy the flashing stays away. If I brake hard both ABS light will start flashing rapidly and continue to do so until I shut down. braking is unaffected.

I am thinking it's service related and was planning a good ABS flush as soon as Ihave time.
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.

could this be the reason?

pads are done. the rear caliper is damaged and so is the rear disc..... not sure how i missed a maintenance item so obvious...
