R1200R oil pressure gauge instal

Looking for info on the instal of a oil pressure gauge on my R1200R...my thinking is one could remove the pressure switch and tee in a gauge sending unit and still maintain the original light switch...any problems with this?...what is the original thread size, diameter and thread pitch, of the now present stock pressure switch? Where is a good starting point [source] for the metric fittings needed? I'm ready for the good, bad, and ugly comments...why the addition of a oil pres. gauge...just cause.

I would ask WHY?. Their are no know issues about this engine losing oil pressure, and a sudden catastrophic loss would bring on the oil pressure lamp. IMHO every time you add something to a machine it's just another thing that can break and cause grief. Usually the add on stuff isn't quite up to the standards of the original, if it's an auxiliary light that stops working or a luggage rack that falls off it's not a real big deal, but if a high pressure oil line (where your going to attach it) breaks because of improper mounting or design error the results will be disturbing, at best, and most likely expensive. Is it really that important to know what your oil pressure is or do you just want a farkle?

I have put Oil Pressure and Temp gauges on my old R50/5 and my K75C. I wanted to put a Pressure gauge on my R1200R by putting a VDO dual sensor (Pressure/idiot light) in place of the current light switch but I do not think there is room for the much larger VDO dual sensor. I think I remember the sensor thread as M12mmx1.5 but I could not find a "T" fitting or just an adapter to get that big VDO sensor out of the way. They do make 'extender' hoses that you put into the original sensor hole and then you can move your VDO dual sensor to a remote location. That may be the answer. If you can find one/make one with the M12x1.5 thread.
Replacing the original sensor with a dual sensor does not "add something" there to break that was not already there. No big risk involved.
