Can anybody direct me to where I can find out how many Rocksters were sold/ are in the UK. It fascinates me that I have only ever seen one other with my own eyes. They are the coolest looking motorcycles of all time & that's it!

No idea I'm afraid. I've had mine coming up 4 and a half years and I think I've seen maybe 3 or 4 others in all that time (1 of which belongs to Riceburner off here, and another which was written off shortly afterwards).
I think you'll find though that as well as being a rare bike (in the UK at least), that the 'coolest-looking' opinion you have is pretty rare too . I really like the looks, but for every 1 person I've met while riding it that agrees, there seems to be 10 that don't!
TBH I quite enjoy the exclusivity of the Rockster - lots of riders have no idea BMW ever made it - I've even been asked if it's a special.

I've had the "special" comments too (of both sorts!). Oddly even coming from hard-core BMW owners who you'd think would know the catalogues backwards.

I can confirm that I've had 3 (2 written off), and I know of at least 4 or 5 others in the South East that I've known/met the owner.

Seem to see plenty around this part of the UK, probably more than R1200R.

OK just go to howmanyleft.co.uk and this will tell you how many are left registered.

For the R1150R
Current figures are 726 registered and 79 sorn (not taxed)
Q4 in 2005 indicates the maximum registered which was 897.
Even gives a graphical representation

Only a 19% reduction in the numbers from the peak
Speaks volumes about the bike - dont you think

I have a silver 2003 R1150R with 12,010 miles - hope to do alot of miles this year

It's not exactly a "special" edition - but another (short lived) model, based on the R1150R, and using a lot of other parts from the BMW modular catalogue. It does have some unique features though. It came in a total of 4 'colour-ways' - matt black and copper/bronze/orange, matt black and apple green, matt white and black (the Ed80 Special Edition - celebrating 80 years of BMW Motorrad), and a matt gunmetal and dark grey in the last year of production (haven't seen any of these last in the UK, but a casual acquaintance of mine in Switzerland had one).

There is a long list somewhere on this forum (maybe in the Rockster section) of all the differences, unique parts.

Basically (afaik) the bike is an R1150R with :
Shorter top gear from the R1150GS Adventure
5.5" rear wheel from the K1200RS
Clocks from the R1100S (fed from final drive box pickup)
headlamp units from GS (mounted on unique top yoke and dingle parts)
Unique "eyebrow"
unique handlebars
Front mudguard similar to (updated version?) that of R1100S
Front fork tubes from R1100S (painted darker)
unique front shock
unique rear shock
unique pillion seat replacement tray ( supplied from new, as standard )
Stainless brake lines fitted as standard (ABS or not)

Might be one or two others - but that's certainly the vast majority of the differences.
