I want to remove the engine. No, you can't ask me why!

I'm really stumped by the bottom frame attachments: Shining my flashlight in the opening, all I can see is a blind tube that's threaded on the inside. I've never seen any "fastener" like this and have zero idea how to attack it.

Any ideas?

And, yes, I've searched this forum, other forums, and the entire interwebs...

OK, I won't ask you why.

I don't understand what place you're talking about. The lowest part of the frame looks like the two stubs that extend forward from the big joint at the swingarm pivots. Those stubs appear to be fastened to the engine with big Torx bolts. They don't seem mysterious.

We are talking about an R12R here, aren't we?

If he's seeing threads, it sounds like his bolts are missing.

Ah... that may well be: the missing Torx bolts.

The bike was in a wreck and at a dealer's for a month while insurance strung me along. Their shop did an estimate (total loss) and removed the crash bars (which didn't work!) and I forgot that they were mounted at those stub points.

Well, at least my job is easier!

Bill, Check the R1100S subforum on Pelican Parts Forum. There are some R1200S owners on there that have documented some major work that may be able to help you out. Sorry to hear of a crash, hope all is well. Keith

Bike slid 20 feet into a light pole: bent forks, telelever arm, and frame.

I slid 13 feet in an Atlantis 4 suit and had a hairline crack in my pelvis and sore ribs. All is well now.

Smart Car cager whipped a left turn from the lane to my right, without signaling of course, and cut me off.

I will miss this forum!
