BMW airshell jacket anybody?

Post by bhmav8r »

Anybody review the new BMW airshell jacket?

I am considering one, but think it may be to heavy for summer (90 -100 degrees in the south). Otherwise , looks like a good versatile jacket with great visibility.

Thanks in advance.

I have one and I live in North Carolina. I have worn this jacket, without the liner, in temperatures from 70 degrees to 103 degrees. It flows a lot of air, if you are moving. Like any protective jacket, it will be hot if you are sitting at a traffic light in 100 degree temperature with 90 percent humidity. If you get temperatures below 70 degrees, you will need to wear it with the liner, because it will be too cold.

I purchased it because I liked the high viz color and the armor in shoulders, elbows and back.

It is a high quality jacket, like all BMW gear.

Here is a review of the jacket that pretty much sums it up:

It's a terrific jacket in hot weather. My only complaint is that it, along with a white bike, seem to make other drivers slow down unexpectedly. I think they think I'm a cop.

I get the same response sometimes; white bike, white helmet, high viz jacket equals "cop" to many cage drivers.

If they notice me, I don't mind. There are a lot worse things I could be mistaken for.

I got the Olymipa version with thermal liner and rain liner for a mere 250.
