Hello everybody at the forum. I interested in buying at least one stick coil for my 2003 R1150R. Does anybody has one or the set to sell? I'm living in Mexico so, please add the shipping fee. i've looked at Beemerboneyard but there are no available. HELP!! you can reach me in my e-mail address: [email protected].

The 2003 model had conventional single spark ignition. Is your bike a single or dual spark? (single spark plug vs. two plugs per cylinder) Dual spark started in the US with the 2004 yr model.

If yours is a single then the ignition coil is under the tank and uses basically a standard plug wire.

Hi. towerworker. Mine is a 2003 R1150R Rockster with dual spark. The main spark (located at the center of the head) is plugged to the stick coil and the secondary spark (below the cylinder) is conected to the conventional coil located beneath the gas tank via a conventional spark plug cable.
What I need is the stick coil for the main spark plug. Does anyone offer?

The date of manufacture on the compliance plate of my 1150 is November 2003, and it is dual spark.

Same here on my Rockster. 2004 model year manufatured in 2003.

Good luck finding a deal, and I would not purchase a used stick coil. I purchased mine from A and S cycles with a discount they offered at the time.

One other thing, if you have the money, purchase two, the second stick may be on its way out as well.

As said - swap them in pairs - you then have a "trustworthy"(?) spare.


Also - slather them in hi-temp grease before fitting them (obviously not the ends... ) It makes fitting and removing them MUCH easier - especially if you do any wet-weather riding, and I think it gives them a little bit of protection from the heat.

Thanks to double lifer and basic user. You're both right. I have replaced the other one six months ago. So I don't have to worry about it. Does A & S have an internet page? Does them send to Mexico?
