I am a newbie -trying to change battery in my R1150R -In the process of disconnecting the quick disconnect -the fuel started gushing out. Can you guys look at this picture and tell if QD is broken, it doesn't snap anymore.

If it is broken -can someone suggest what tools I might need (apart from the quick disconnect) to remove the broken one and put the new one. Sorry I am very new to this and would appreciate your feedback

Don't use OEM quick disconnects as repacements. Instead use metal QDs such as those from Beemerboneyard. Read other QD replacement threads for guidance on the order in which to go about the job.
Toolwise -
First of all you'll need to stop the flow of petrol - which I presume you've already done - using vicegrips with material covering the jaws to compress the fuel line.
Then to remove the single use Oktikker(?) clamps you can use one of two methods - either by cutting the crimped section of the clamp with a pair of side cutters or using a small flat-bladed screw driver and pliers to prise open and loosen the crimped collar of the clamp which can then be slid up the fuel line and the QD removed. I personally had more success with the second method.
The only other thing I can suggest using is silicon grease to lubricate the o-ring before connecting the male and female ends of the QDs
Almost forgot - use fuel injection rated clamps to replace the OEM single use clamps butchered when you removed them.

Yes, it is broken. You'll need new ones. Go with metal ones this time. More expensive but worth it. The image below is what they should look like when disconnected. I posted this yesterday for someone else. It seems the weak spot is the base of the black plastic male fitting, where in your pic it was sheared off at the base.

My connection to the rubber hoses were what failed on mine. The QDs are still working as you can see.

As already noted, your original QC half broke at the usual spot. Here's what you're missing, and what I broke once upon a time:



To remove the OE fuel line Oetiker clamp, folks have used screwdrivers, Dremel cut-offs, etc. My solution was mechanical advantage, after finding the thick stainless Oetiker clamp a worthy adversary... used a pair of right angle nips on the Oetiker clamp "bulge", and big channel-lock pliers to squeeze the nip handle:





Since you're new here, might I offer a suggestion to use the message board's Search feature? For "quick disconnect" topic alone you can find a wealth of knowledge, including options for replacement fuel line clamp.

Once you get the QC issue handled and gain experience removing/installing the fuel tank, it's mostly downhill from here.

If you really want to break the ice, ask us which oil you should use, or about the best tyres to buy................

Of course it broke...thats what I said the day I broke my lurvly QD the same way. I was wanting to run my Motolight wires super clean under the tank and at a cool $75 bucks later I did. I replaced the OEM with the Jiffy-tite QDs and replaced all fuel line outside the tank while I was at it. Remove them how you want or as others have suggested, they all work. 1800 miles and no problems. The Jiffy-tites are way over designed for our application and thats ok with me.

One of mine broke, so I ordered these metal quick disconnects from beemer bone yard. Here they are, after installation.
