Windshield/case availability?

I'm looking at a 2002 1150R; pretty reasonable condition, relatively low kms. I'm not there yet, but I may buy it.
The bike is completely bare. Can someone give me an indication of how available (or not) BMW cases and the necessary mounting brackets may be for this bike? And I recognize that there are probably lots of aftermarket windshields out there that would fit, but how available are BMW windshields?
Thanks, much appreciated.

Try "beemerboneyard", I have bought a few items from them, very helpful. I have also bought farkles for my bike from Ebay, notably the Sargent seat that I love, and also try Advrider. Advrider is very good for virtually anything bikewise, bought my Belstaff riding gear, and BMW and Sidi boots from there. I bought my Piaa 1100X driving lights on my Rockster from IBMWR.org web site. Lots of resources out there.

The R1150R can use BMW System cases from R850/1100/1150 Roadster/Rockster/GS bikes, along with mounting rails spec'd for same, spanning years 1995 to 2005. The older "square" mounting rail for R1100 series works fine for R1150R, although you forfeit the ability to mount rear/center luggage rack via the R1150R-specific "curvy" case mount rails.
The R1150R shares similar subframe with R1150GS, which also dictates the original muffler mounting position. BMW System cases for the R1150R and R1150GS are shaped to accomodate the left side muffler position. You can also lower the muffler via various means to allow for fitment of R1100/1150 RT System case set, which increases capacity in the left side case a bit. Note that the right side case is identical for R1150R/GS/RT.
Bottom line: new and used System cases and mounts are widely available.

Check out the thread below. He has system cases and hardware to mount. They will fit the r1150r. I have talked with him through pm, he doesn't have them listed yet... (I just purchased his windscreen)

Also- I found a set of system cases with mounting brackets on ebay for 200 bucks! They just needed some cleaning. They pop up often for sale.

The system cases are shaped oddly but are functional and fit the bike well. They can be found but are super pricey. I'd expect to pay close to $1000 for a set and the mounts. Good think about them is that the mounts fit the bike well and don't look like exercise equipment strapped to your bike when not using the cases like some of the other types.
I ride in the winter with a Parabellum SuperTour windshield and LOVE it. The bike came with a BMW Sport shield that was completely useless. I also tried a Cee Bailey's Euro Cut and it buffeted something terrible. I'm currently riding with the BMW Flyscreen for the warmer weather and it seems to smooth out the air stream a little and cut down on noise. But not nearly as quiet as the Parabellum. Don't even need ear plugs with the SuperTour. That's they way to go and under $300 including mounts. If you go that route you'll probably want to spring for a set of AeroFlow tank wings too.
Good luck.

With regard to tank wings fro Aeroflow, anyone here have them on the 1150r? I'm trying to decide if they would deflect some of the dirty air coming from around this updated windshield I have on mine now. It works a lot better than the last one bot is not very wide so I am getting a lot of air wrapping around and hitting my arms at speed, can feel them being pushed back. Also, Aeroflow makes those lowers that sit atop the cylinders, and they look like they would deflect a lot of moisture or cold air...anyone with these? Searching in the meantime.
OK, I found some comments from Xdot which indicate he likes his tank wings...

After using a two piece adjustable MRA screen for 7 years or so I'm hoping to get an original BMW flyscreen.
Reasons are appearance and a reduction in wind noise. The existing screen is very protective but even with earplugs the wind noise is excruciating. Tried the bike with the MRA top half removed. The wind noise is so much less, while the protection was still adequate for a 160 mile trip at the weekend ,even at up to 70mph in blustery conditions.
