Exhaust covers.

I want a set of Exhaust covers for the pipes on my r1200r. I have a set for my 1977, they are are banded to the pipes and look nice. I can not find a seller.

I've looked for those also. I specifically wanted one for the cross pipe because I picked up a small dent after a trip down a gravel road. They are also good for nominal protection from burns on the header pipes. I am thinking of children being attracted to the pretty blue. Three days ago I stopped the neighbors daughter from touching the exhaust at the tailpipe. Still would've hurt her, but nothing like near the header area. DAMHIK

I haven't seen anything like this for the 1200R and would also like to know if these are available.

It's a shame that most of the bright shiny stuff on a motorcycle is usually dangerously hot. I constantly have to tell the grandchildren to stay away from the motorcycle when it's hot. When my guys were little I just watched them put a finger on it, and that usually did the trick.

I think your out of luck with exhaust shields, we've been over this once before and it developed into an extended (but informational) thread on exhaust coatings. As far as the crossover pipe in front of the engine, you might find something at your local Harley dealer. Naturally you'll have to get over putting something designed for a Harley on your Beemer and if the guys at a rally find out - well then your bike may be stoned (in the Islamic sense).

Those may do the job, but they are downright ugly. I wouldn't put them on my bike.

They look like the header pipe has developed "shingles."

I had a R1200C and the pipes were covered by a chrome exterior casing that matched the contour of the headers. You wouldn't know there was another pipe under it. The pipes still got warm, however.

The exhaust pipes had optional heat shields, whcih prevented the inevitable rain pant leg sticking to the exhaust pipe when deploying the side stand.
