Fastest colors

Post by racerb »

when I bought my R I wanted A white motorcycle, But white was not a color available yet. So I notice that a lot of folks Lust after the next color that becomes available then lament that they will just have to sell their pride and joy to get that latest color. Would it be cost effective to just purchace the tank and fenders in that "new" color? Then you could just mount whatever matches your wardrobe for the day. It would definatly cut down on Manufacturing polution as the factory would need less engines and frames, and the balance of payment deficit would decline. Oh and don't forget about all the worries some folks have when they get a new machine, thats it's perfect and everything, they'd only need to worry about the color. Oh and I just realized you could mix and match, kind of a poormans art bike. Storage might be a problem and then there's the bone of every Chromehead-- the fuel quick connects. OH-Am I on the wrong forum? a mind is a terrible thing to use.

Roger that! =D>

I often dream of having alternate color panels, fenders, trim and even rims in the garage that I could swap out to fit my mood. I like the aggressive red and black combo and would like to see some Bavarian Blue and checkers thrown into a scheme.

If the Mistress and I get a few years down the road, I will seriously consider aquiring some extra body parts for her.

:-k Gotta keep dream'n...I haven't seen this much snow up here in over 30 years. The roads are taking a beating and it looks like an April start for RR commuting this year.

I had a similar thought when I bought my 07 R12. I wanted a black one but couldn't find one at the right price and ended up with one in silver. It was OK for a year but just didn't excite me as a colour. Solution? RESPRAY!
Had the tank and panels etc painted black by local paint specialist.
All for £300 (cheaper than spare tank, panels and fender and no storage problems)

Check out the photos....

Before (nice looking bike in silver)

After (the R12 I always wanted) ....Ok so I added a carrier, comfort seat , hugger and sports screen

In the interest of domestic tranquility, I certainly hope you clarify that you are talking about your motorcycle !

Hey Rocket - Is that the Nippy Normans Fiberglass Hugger? Easy installation?

Does anyone here in the USA have one? Comments? Shipping time?

Here is a thread on the Nippy Normans Hugger: http://www.r1150r.net/board/viewtopic.p ... py+normans

I found that the finish on the hugger is poor. The top is hazy with fine scratches, the underside is unfinished fiberglass, and the edges are rough. If I were to buy a hugger again, it would be the Ilmberger carbon fiber.

I like mine "O.K.", shipping was no problem...
I order a lot of stuff from overseas and never have any issues. Frequently, things seem to get here more quickly than if I had ordered it from within the U.S..
With the Hugger, if I were to do it over again, I would have spent a little more money to get one of the huggers that mount onto the caliper bracket.
If you do get the Nippy Norman's one, be sure and use lock-tight or safety wire on the fasteners. ;)

Rocket...By far the most popular color is black and you have a sharp bike. One of the most discussed subject is windshields and I have a sport shield. I like my sport shield. What is your opinion on the sport shield vs the original shield on the first picture?
