Hello everyone,
I finally got my new (although used) 2007 R1200R. I am now researching for intercom systems and was wondering if I could get some advice from experienced riders.
I was looking a the Sena SMH1- dual pack and would like to know what other riders experiences are with this brand or/and other brands.
As always I am grateful to have your responses.
Thank you!
silvio.

Wicked stutter, Silvio

Welcome to the crew. I can't help you with the intercom question because my other half stays home.

Silvio, I have no experience with that model. My wife just started riding with me this year (bike choice issues on my part mostly). I bought a pair of Cardio Scala Q2 (Bluetooth tech) because I don't care about phone/GPS/iPod etc., just want to be able to talk to the wife. You can hook them up to those devices if you desire. They work pretty well, a little glitchy but serviceable,

I have the Sena Dual system. I just wanted something wireless so my wife and I could talk on a cross-continent ride this summer.
Its crystam clear with plenty of volume while talking to each other. I've only used it linked to my phone a couple of times, and while its clear, the volume wasn't enough for highway speeds. I've not linked any music attachments because my wife doesn't stop talking long enough to listen to music ;)

We did nearly 900 miles on our last day and I got about 10 hours constant talk time out of the units.

Gripes: Not much, recharge time is a little slow if that counts. I did have a units speakers quit working during my trip. Each one died a slow, scratchy sounding death one at a time. I called the vendor, and he overnighted a new set to where I was gonna be the next night. The vendor was rocketmoto, and if you go with Sena, I HIGHLY recommend! Any questions just ask.

thank you all for your responses!
I will check the Cardio Scala and compare it with the Sena.

Bruce, you need to take your wife for a ride.

my budy uses scala and i have one of those interphone from ebay.

the interphone works great. i use it to connect to my smart phone (for calls and music), and bmw gps. no problem at all. i also use it as intercom when i ride 2-up with my wife.

i read it somewhere that u can pair a scala to interphone too but never tried it myself

i used the sena last week on a trip. it was great. large control dial for glove, only 2 buttons so not too complex. occasional bluetooth connectivity issues with iphone, always fixed with a reboot of both systems but hard to do on the road.

overall as this was my first experience with modern helmet communication systems i was very very pleased. as my riding buddy owned these units for use with his son, i will need to purchase one now. even though i will not use the intercom i would like one to listen to music and/or podcasts while riding.

i have not tried other brands but the sena worked very well.

Thank you all for your input,
based on your responses, additional research and a good price at Amazon, I decided to go with the Scala Rider Q2 Multiset.

As soon as I receive it and test it, I will post my experience and perhaps be of help to someone else.

Have a great day!
Silvio.
