I want to stretch my legs out. I've seen the elf's and I think those are somewhat laughable and too close, too far out, etc. I want to make myself a standoff for the top of the jugs which would do two things..
1) keep my legs from slow roasting on the top of the cylinders.
2) allow for cooling airflow over the cylinder unimpeded by my leg in direct contact.

The device I'm envisioning would bolt onto the cylinder head, would be sturdy but small wire or similar thin construction like a chrome wire rack. Maybe I need a concept sketch to post?

I've seen the pegs mounted to side brackets and I've seen people use the side brackets alone which they claim helps keep their legs from falling off the sides of the jugs. I'd prefer something a little nicer, simiar to the side brackets but with a wire rack cradle under my calf, separating the calf from the top of the head by a nominal 1/4" or so, just enough to break the conduction of heat from the jug to the leg.

I think someone made and marked one of these about 5-7 years ago based several posts I saw on other boards but they're no longer made and I Can't find detailed info on his fabrication.

I'm far too lazy to be an entrepreneur for this product. Now, for another cup of coffee...

Not sure this what you are looking for, but I followed Paul and used the Talon brackets by Hawks Products (without lights) and find they work very well for short periods of time just to get a quick stretch while riding. Here is the thread with photos and info viewtopic.php?f=20&t=19986

Thanks Rick, I've seen those and to me they would be the outer lip of the jug peg which would prevent my legs from falling off the side of the jugs. I picture thin wire stretching from the those brackets towards the interior of the bike, providing a wire framed "shelf" or "rack" for my calves to rest on while still proving circulation air cooling to the jugs and preventing my calves from being in direct contact with the heads.

I see what you're talking about, Anger, and I might be interested in something like that. So far, though, I have happily ridden many miles with my calves (is that the right plural?) just resting on the jugs. As long as I wear my high BMW socks and my riding boots there's enough thermal buffering to be comfortable. Not so with just jeans and running shoes, though, for sure!

How about a Two-fer ?

The SW-Motech cylinder guards make fine highway pegs to rest your boots on. I do it all the time and it is very, very comfortable on long rides to stretch out and relax. If you really want to add pegs, you can do so easily attaching to the bars. I think it is unnecessary :

These also have no lean-angle problems like some of the pegs you can add. Might as well be a Harley with some of them

The elf type pegs don't interest me personally, but you'll find some opinions on this board about them if you search.. Some good, some bad.

Those SW bars (modified slightly) might actually work. I've seen those before but forgot about that product.

I have the ELF pegs on my bike and I love them. They put your feet away from the heat and let the air flow right up your legs. Perfect for those hot summer days. I also like the looks of them much better than the clunky look of the ones posted. When you don't need them, they just fold up and disappear.
