Hi All--
I just traded my R1150R for a R1200R. Bought it new from the dealer here in Charleston, South Carolina. Absolutely love the R1200! It's arctic white with the on-board computer, side cases, ABS, windshield and a few other goodies. I had an R1100 before the 1150 so you can say I'm a big fan of the boxer engine.
The message board is terrific and I've had a great time reading through the informative posts.
I'll get around to a photo hosting site and upload some pictures soon.

Welcome to the board, great place to learn and do your own maintenance, if you ever in Southern California we'll go for a ride and work on our "chicken strips", lots of mountains around Los Angeles.

Charleston is a long way from a mountain. Not counting Mount Pleasant! (and it is neither).

I'm truly astonished at the difference between the r12 and my previous r1150. Far better brakes: the 1150 had power, servo-assisted, linked foot brake with ABS while the r12 of course has linked hand brake and rear-only foot brake; handling is significantly improved; and the 25 fewer kilos make for much easier parking on the center stand.
Charleston is great riding country. I live on James Island and can be over the bridge to John's Island in 5 minutes from where I live. Many, many scenic roads with over arching trees and little traffic. I'm going easy during the first 600 miles but I can already tell the difference the extra 20-something HP makes-- just roll on the throttle and go!
I got the tallest windshield BMW offers for the r12. It taller and wider than a sport shield but I'm still looking well over it. Love the side cases, they're keyed to the ignition and large enough to store my full-face helmet when I'm parked.
Lots of little improvements over the r1150. No more "choke" lever when starting -- ignition ON and go.
By all means, when any of you come to Charleston let me know and we can ride. It's 50 miles one way to Edisto Beach that goes through some beautiful marsh country and one of the best twisty roads in the area: Toogoodo Road.
