Question? Can a cee bailey 20" screen with the bmw mounts hold up to 100mph on a daily basis. Just wondering. Test rode a 1200gs today but cant afford it yet so I must modify my r accordingly. thanks in advance.

I suspect it can, but dunno where you'll do 100mph in NJ.. at least not without risking your license. My 18" does fine at Turnpike/Parkway speeds (70-85MPH), and that's with a BMW-Navigator-III mounted on a cross-bar above the BMW mount.

It will be lots smoother and more satisfying if you use one of Don C's mount-blocks to tip the BMW mount back an inch or so. The angle of attack makes a big difference in how well the shields work, and the BMW mount is a tad too upright.

BTW - where are you in NJ (what exit? )

I can - butttttt... I have the limited one, where it can only be used with 10 different VIN#'s - so far I've used two. I'm somewhat hesitant to use them all up. You might consider getting one yourself since it is a useful tool. Resetting the service indicator vs twice at a dealer would about pay for it.

15W - Meadowlands? Kearny? Harrison? Might get to 100MPH in that area, especially if someone is chasing you..

I've done 20 or 30 mile stretches at 100mph with my C-B 20 and it was fine. Buffeting was more the issue. I put Don C's block on and found that it put too much torque on the BMW mount (didn't want to bend the mount in case it didn't work) and also found it quite noisy. The mount is quite stout so I suspect that you would see some bending in it first before a sudden catastrophic failure.

I have just returned from a holiday in France and had no problems with my 20 inch Cee bailey, travelling at a steady 90 mph on the Auto Routes, when fully loaded with panniers and top box.

Never an issue when I had mine, although it was only short duration blasts. I can say it will withstand substantially more than 100mph, actually. Of course, all this happened during track days...

I've never had an problems with my 20" Cee Bailey. I've ridden for long stretches at 85mph, very comfortable. I've had my bike at 110mph many times for stretches down the 395, even with side winds. No problem.
