R1150R to R1200R ?

Hello everyone,
Considering making the switch to the new R1200R from my 2005 R1150R.
I've been riding this 05 since new, has been a great bike, no issues, but the new technology seems very tempting, lighter, smoother engine & transmission, I'm finding it hard to part with the old!
Has anyone made this switch before? Any regrets?

Test ride one. Take your checkbook. You won't go home with your R1150R.

Yeah, what Don said. Your R1150R is a beautiful motorcycle. The R1200R, is the next level better in every way.

I went from an 1150R to a 1200R. While I am almost certainly in the minority here, I think the 1150 was the better bike for me. I have never been comfortable on the 1200 after more than an hour in the saddle, but I rode my 1150 across the country without a moment of discomfort. I never felt the "surging" issue people complained of on my 1150. The 1150 seemed more "planted" on the road than the 1200. The 1200 has a much twitchier throttle response and the electronics are a lot more complicated. To be sure, the 1200 is a good deal more powerful and has a lot more torque, but I never come even close to using all of that power. One of the things I think is better on the 1200 is the ABS system. I think the 1200 handles with a lighter touch, too, which may or may not be a good thing in all circumstances. Honestly, if someone offered me a well-maintained, mint black R1150R with sport shield and cases I'd swap my 1200 for it in a minute.

I must say the only point the R1150R has over the new R1200R is the seat operation. On my old R1150R Ed 80 I really liked being able to put the key in real quick and pop the small section to put my wallet/keys, garage remote etc. It seems kind of a hassle to find the little keyhole on the back of the 1200 and then pull the whole seat up. I'm also surprise the new R1200R's don't have a more finished underseat storage area. Just my 2 cents. Other than that its great. R1200R's are much faster than the old ones!

I went from a Rockster to a K1200S. In less than a year I was back with a boxer, but the R1200R. Never regretted it.

We're close to the next iteration of RR. If you can hold off pulling the trigger, it might help the wallet on a 2010. Then again, you might be waiting awhile.
