Ilium Highway Pegs

Has anyone tried Ilium Highway Pegs on our beloved R?

If so I would appreciate your comments.

It looks like they would go nicely with a set of the SW Motech crash bars >http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/pr ... /3076/594/

They do seem to be a bit on the pricey side though, especially since you can buy a set of highway pegs with the crash bars for only $35 more. Hrm, $235 or $35....think I would try the $35 ones first. I don't think my boots or feet will notice the difference but my wallet cerainly would.

I added a set of these pegs a couple of months ago and am very pleased. They are high quality and well made. They are adjustable but even in the furtherest position they do not allow much of a leg stretch. However there was an installation problem on the right side of my '07 R12R. They install with a spacer to the engine block and there was not enough clearance between the spacer and the O2 sensor in the head pipe. I had to machine out enough clearance in the spacer. There was no problem on the left side. It had > 0.5" clearance. I sent my info and photos to the manufacturer and they seemed appreciative in an e-mail reply but I 've heard nothing since. I'm courious as to BMW's locating the O2 sensors in the head pipes if this threaded hole in the block is used on other models. Could BMW not be accurate in locating/installing the O2 sensors in the head pipes? You can see a difference in the location of my O2 sensors in the head pipes with the right side one definiately further back than the left side. I can recommend the pegs but installation is a question. I'm not sure who is responsible.

Could BMW not be accurate in locating/installing the O2 sensors in the head pipes? You can see a difference in the location of my O2 sensors in the head pipes with the right side one definitely further back than the left side.

Might it be that BMW has the sensors an equal length from the exhaust outlets on the heads? The heads/cylinders are offset to each other (since BMW didn't use a "Siamese" connecting rod design.
