The new German motorcycle - AKA Horex

This is kind of exciting. A brand new motorcycle from a new (old) group in Germany.

Can't read German myself but from what I gather, a pretty high end all new bike, with a supercharged VR6 engine and what looks like belt final drive. I've seen various references to 200 HP.

What does everyone think of it? I think it's gorgeous.

Actually looks to me like a similar bike to our R1200R, albeit higher end. Hope they eventually bring it to North America.

Looks very cool to me. 200hp...sign me up! ABS, no fairing, classic colors. BTW I noticed a translate button on the website to convert the German to English.

Beautiful bike, probably expensive. A surprisingly low weight for a bike with that engine.

Not a straight 6, though, as stated above - it's a small-angle V6 which keeps the width sensible.

If it went into production and had a dealer network I could be tempted, but the technical details are a bit vague (tank capacity circa 18-20 litres?) so I suspect it's not production ready yet. There was no translate button that I could see and my German isn't great.

Looks super nice... didn't go to far into "Motorcycle.com" ..... but I wonder about the weight .... 550lbs????
Price????? Very Nice! I would like my next bike (if I be so foolish) to be a cruiser but if I could get this thing for ten thousand...well. :-k

There is a Honda VTX something for sale less than a mile from my house. Silver / White and totally outfitted...

Very cool. Looks more like a motorcycle in the traditional sense. They don't say anything about the price, but looking at the tech specs it won't be cheap.

I don't know much about Horex except for the fact that they are one of the oldest German brands, went out of business a long time ago, and they also have an airplane engine background. According to some oldtimers I talked to, a Horex was a young man's object of fancy in post-war Germany, more so than the other big brands including BMW, NSU, or DKW. Supposedly the Horex Regina had a fantastic sound. My dad knew a guy who liked the sound of his Regina so much he forgot the road over listening to his bike, crashed into a fence, and lost an eye.

Motorcycle News in the UK reports today that it'll be 20,000 Euros when it goes on sale in Germany early next year - around £16,600 in the UK. So quite expensive, but then the way bike prices have risen in the last year that's not unrealistic for what should be a very special bike. After all, a fully-specced R12R (without luggage) is £11,845.........

OK, so at $1.49 for a British Pound, the bike is north of $29,000! Yikes!
The K1200 & K1300 are both a bit lighter in torque and mass. How much is one of those?
I saw a video with one of the K bikes with ASC off and ASC on. With ASC off the front wheel kept
climbing for the sky. With ASC on, the bike kept both wheels on, or mostly on the pavement.
Still, this 6 cylinder seems totally worth a look...when it becomes available.

This is the first bike in years where I've said, yeh, I'd buy this! I love the muscle and the naked look but the look just says, I'm fun to ride.
I want it!

The K1200 doesn't exist any more as a new bike. The K1300S is £10,875 basic, or £13,305 in a more normal spec (ESA, ASC, ABS, heated grips, computer). If you're comparing naked bikes then the K1300R is £10,250 basic or £13,055 with the Dynamic and Comfort packs and ESA. In other words, not a long way short of the Horex.

I want a test drive. Perhaps we can all get a group Airline ticket rate, fly over the pond, do Julyfest, ride the Horex, tour the BMW plant, and come back fully enlightened.

Wonder how much a valve service would cost...

Nice looking bike though, and it would be fun to out-accellerate a squid on an R1. Until the wind blew you off, anyway. A 200hp naked bike - it needs a nig big Hannigan!

Perhaps the extra 10,000 bones for the motorcycle includes valve jobs for life. You better get some kind of a job for shelling out this kind of money for a motorcycle. Horex will need 5 years to have motorcycles
in the USA just to be able to support whoever buys the motorcycle here.
