Ok to adjust valves with out syncing throttle bodies

Just a quick question. The valves on my 04 are starting to get pretty loud on the left side. I replaced the cam tensioner thinking this was the noise. I don't have the money to purchase a twinmax yet. So would it hurt to adjust the valves without syncing the throttle bodies? If it helps I am at 10254 miles. Previous owner says he took care of this at 6k, not sure though. It is running great. Just completed a 860 mile ride with the wife (averaged 43 mpg). Just a lot of ticking on the left side.

If anyone is interested here are photos from the trip Arizona to Zion, Grand Canyon North and south rim.

I wouldn't until you can do both procedures.

--Although, it would certainly be OK to measure the valve lash... I just would not make adjustments until you have something to balance the throttles.

--You say that the bike is running great... I wouldn't mess with that!

--An old cliche is "Tappy valves are happy valves".

You can always make a tool to balance the throttle bodies... very cheaply. :D Then you can adjust and make sure the bike will continue to run great.

Ok, so I am trying to make manometer. I have the tubing and everything put together. The question is how do I get the 2 stroke oil to settle and all the air bubbles to come out.

Valve adjustment and TB syn are two separate and unrelated operations. Yes, the engine will derive the maximum benefit when performing both operations, however, one can certainly do one followed by the other.

Poorly adjusted valves, unlike out of sync TB's, can add undue wear to the valve train components. Make sure the piston is at TDC when adjusting the valves and run the feeler under both valves at the same time.

God luck

today's the day. I am adjusting the valves and syncing the throttle bodies. The left side valves where all loose as could be. The right side is great no adjustment needed. Hmm , doubting my methods, but intakes feel the same and exhaust feel the same. Ok time to move on the the throttle bodies.
